What are the propagation methods for cockscomb? Even beginners can learn them
Cockscomb, scientific name Celosia cristata L., Chinese aliases: phoenix-tail cockscomb, reed-flower cockscomb, big-head cockscomb, cockscomb crest flower, laolaihong, pen cockscomb. An annual herbaceous plant, native to India and Africa, with a flowering period from July to October each year. Because its flowers resemble a cockscomb, it is called cockscomb. The flowers are mostly bright red, and there are also yellow, rose red, and other colors. It is a common ordinary garden flower.

Cockscomb is generally propagated by sowing. This is usually done from April to May each year, with the temperature kept at 20°C-25°C for best results. Before sowing, it is best to spread some base fertilizer (such as barnyard manure, compost, or cake fertilizer) in the seedbed. Cockscomb seeds are tiny, so when sowing it is best to mix some fine soil into the seeds and broadcast them. Covering with 2-3 mm of soil is enough; it should not be too deep. Before sowing, keep the soil in the seedbed moist. After sowing, be sure to spray a little water with a fine-nozzle watering can. The seedbed should be moderately shaded, and do not water within two weeks.
