Wind Orchid (Vanda) Cultivation Methods and Precautions
The wind orchid is a plant that loves growing in well-ventilated environments with high humidity, which is how it got such an elegant name. From ancient times to the present, it has been widely loved by many, so it also has many alternative names. For example, because it has long grown in pure and quiet places such as rocks and towering trees, noble and aloof with a subtle fragrance, it is also called immortal grass. In ancient times, scholars and writers liked to hang it under the eaves while discussing poetry and philosophy, hence it was also named Xuanlan. Now let us briefly introduce to flower lovers the cultivation methods of the wind orchid and the precautions during cultivation.

Wind Orchid Cultivation Methods and Precautions
I. Temperature
Orchids love shade and dread direct sun exposure above all. They favor moisture and humidity, and dislike dryness and aridity. 15°C to 30°C is most suitable for growth; above 35°C growth will suffer, and below 5°C it will severely affect their growth. The most suitable placement is in a well-ventilated and shady spot, maintaining moderate humidity as the best condition. In hot summer, it is suitable to place outdoors for warm cultivation, with a shade rate of 60%; in cold winter, it is suitable to place in a greenhouse for cultivation, with a shade rate of 40%.
II. Soil
The phoenix orchid is suitable for sandy soil containing humus. You can use soil with a lot of decaying leaves or mountain soil with relatively more humus matter. Slightly acidic loose soil or soil containing more iron is suitable, with a pH value of 5-7 being ideal. If you do not want to use soil, you can also mount it on a board or on water-absorbing stone, and sprinkle a little water daily, and it will develop well. Pairing with decaying wood is a choice many flower lovers prefer, as it looks very artistic.
III. Watering
1. Spring
In spring, there is more rain and less sunlight. Place the wind orchid outdoors in a well-ventilated spot, letting it absorb enough natural rainwater, and apply fertilizer twice a month. No watering needed.
2. Summer
In summer, there is more sunlight and less rain. Place the wind orchid in a shady spot, providing some appropriate light. You can set up a suitable sunshade canopy or mat and other equipment; a gentle breeze is best. Because the weather is dry and hot, more watering is needed, and when watering, it needs to absorb more sunlight.
