Narcissus, also known as Chinese narcissus, is a variety of polyanthus narcissus and has been cultivated in China for over a thousand years as a traditional ornamental flower. So how do you plant its seeds? When will it bloom after planting? What uses does it have? According to Amaryllidaceae data, narcissus is used medicinally with its bulb, collected in spring and autumn, washed free of mud and sand, blanched in boiling water, then sliced and dried in the sun or used fresh; it is mildly toxic. It has effects such as clearing heat and detoxifying, and dispersing nodules and reducing swelling. It is used for mumps, and for early-stage red, swollen, hot and painful symptoms of carbuncles, boils and furuncles. Moreover, placing narcissus at home can absorb noise emitted in the home, absorb exhaust gases released in the home, and release fresh air, physically lightening the excess burden in one more space; a comfortable home is a home with good feng shui.

How to Plant Narcissus Seeds?

1. First, after buying narcissus seeds, wash them clean.

2. Take out the hydroponic holder and place the narcissus into it, with the roots at the bottom and the top at the top.

3. Take out a fish tank, fill it with water, then put the loaded narcissus hydroponic holder onto it.

4. After placing it on, we check whether the water has reached the roots. If it has not reached them yet, we keep adding water; once it has reached the roots, we stop adding water. It must not go above the roots. Then after this is done, we take the hydroponic holder off again and put in the colored stones. Putting in roughly enough is fine; do not put in too many.

5. Then you can drip a few drops of nutrient solution in, but do not drip too much or it will not be good. Note that once the water becomes dirty, you must change it; do not wait until it has completely turned yellow before changing the water.

When Does Narcissus Bloom?

Narcissus generally blooms around the Spring Festival; at the earliest it blooms in January, and with a long flowering period it can bloom until March.

Note: 1. Narcissus likes cold and fears heat. During the growth period the suitable temperature is lower, with the ideal temperature being 8°C to 12°C, and after flowering it needs to be. If the temperature is low after flowering, the flowering period is long; otherwise it is short. If you want to extend the flowering period, you can put the narcissus in the refrigerator for storage.

2. When the room temperature is above 23°C, the flowering period of water-cultured narcissus is one week; at 15°C to 20°C, the flowering period is about 10 days; at 8°C to 12°C, the flowering period can be extended to 15 days to 20 days. So as long as there is a certain low-temperature environment, the flowering period of narcissus can be effectively extended.

3. When one or two flowers of the narcissus buds have opened, you can take the flower bulb out of the pot, put it in a small plastic bag, and store it in the refrigerator storage compartment. After several days, take it out and put it back in the flower pot to continue caring for it, and it can bloom normally. The narcissus flower stem (scape) can also be refrigerated. When the first narcissus flower opens, cut off the scape, insert it into a water cup, and place it in the refrigerator with the temperature kept at 1°C to 3°C. It can be kept for 2 weeks to 3 weeks, and after taking it out and putting it in a vase it can still continue to bloom.

In addition, adding one quarter of a tablet of aspirin with a content of 0.3 mg to the narcissus pot can also extend the flowering period and delay the wilting of the flowers.
