There are many things in the world we do not know about. Today, the editor will introduce a magical plant to everyone. This plant can freely choose its living environment. This plant is called nine-death resurrection grass, which is a type of fern, and its scientific name is Selaginella tamariscina. So how much is nine-death resurrection grass per jin? How to plant it? What effects does it have?

Origin of the name
Nine-death resurrection grass is also called long-life grass, immortality grass, ten-thousand-year grass, and so on. Nine-death resurrection grass has roots that can separate from the soil on their own, curl up like a fist, move with the wind, revive upon meeting water, and the roots drill back into the soil to seek moisture. Because of its extremely strong drought tolerance, after long-term drought, as long as the root system is soaked in water, it can spread out again, hence the name. In China it is distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hunan, Shaanxi, Hebei, Shandong, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang and other places. It is produced in most areas of China.
Root stalks are born only at the base of the stem, 0.5-3 cm long, 0.3-1.8 mm in diameter; the roots are mostly branched, densely covered with hairs, and together with the stem and branches densely form a tree-like main trunk, sometimes reaching dozens of cm tall. The leaves are all alternately arranged, dimorphic. The leaf texture is thick, the surface smooth, the margin not entire, with a white border; the leaves on the main stem are slightly larger than those on the branchlets, imbricate, green or brown, with fine teeth on the margin.
Selaginella tamariscina market price
Market demand is not large. Recently, supply has entered a stage of substantive consumption. Holders are actively selling, and the market is running steadily; at present, the market price for general goods is around 10-11 yuan.
How is Selaginella tamariscina planted?
Selaginella tamariscina reproduces by spores, or self-grown seedlings are dug from producing areas for pot cultivation. The potting soil should be loose, well-drained sandy loam. After planting, place it in a shady, damp place without direct sunlight. For spore propagation of Selaginella tamariscina, select a stem segment with mature sporangia growing in the leaf axils, cut 1.5 cm from the branch tip, and place it on the surface of clean, well-drained soil. The soil is commonly made by mixing 1 part soil with 4 parts fine sand. Sprinkle some sifted fine soil on the cut surface of the stem segment, keep the cut surface moist, cover with glass to prevent water loss, keep it often moist, and place it under a temperature condition of about 20°C. After about 9 months, new plants can grow.
1. Biological characteristics: it likes light and has very strong drought resistance. It mostly grows on sunny mountain rocks or in dry rock crevices. It grows normally in moist places at about 20°C.
2. Cultivation techniques: stem division propagation; some species can be propagated by leaves and spores. Stem division propagation is to cut creeping stems into 3-6 cm long stem segments, place them on fine sandy soil, water 3-4 times a day, and keep them moist so they can survive. For some species, small leaflets can be inserted into the soil, watered to keep moist, and they will take root and send out new leaves. For some species with upright stems, spore propagation can be used: select a stem segment with mature sporangia growing in the leaf axils, and cut 1.5 cm from the branch tip.
Cultivation methods
1. Placement
Selaginella tamariscina is suitable for growing in shaded places and should be placed under soft light all year round.
2. Temperature
It is suitable for growing in a warm room. The minimum winter temperature is 0°C.
3. Watering
The plant has extremely strong drought resistance, but during the growth period it needs a large amount of water to keep the potting soil fully moist. The plant likes moisture, and the leaf clusters should be sprayed with warm water every day. Do not spray with cold water, otherwise it is unfavorable to the leaf clusters.
4. Fertilizing
During the growth period, apply a standard liquid fertilizer at 30% concentration once every half month.
5. Cultivation and repotting
Plant it in well-drained sandy loam; it can also be kept in a small water cup. For pot cultivation, a shallow pot is most suitable. Repot in spring; if repotting is not necessary, then turn the soil in the pot with fresh soil.
6. Propagation
Use cutting propagation. When pruning the plant in spring, cut 5—8 cm long cuttings and insert them into a moist shallow pot, placing it in soft light.

Legend of Selaginella tamariscina
Legend says that on Kunlun Mountain there was a glittering heavenly pool, which was the place where the Queen Mother of the West bathed. On the bank of the heavenly pool grew a kind of immortal grass that could bring the dead back to life. One year there was a great drought among the people, and a plague spread, killing thousands upon thousands of ordinary people. The dragon girl living in the heavenly pool saw the human world suffering disaster and was filled with sympathy. She secretly brought the immortal grass from the bank of the heavenly pool to the human world to treat people and save all living beings, and thousands upon thousands of dead common people unexpectedly came back to life. When the Dragon King learned of this, he flew into a rage and, in his anger, struck the dragon girl down to the human world. After the dragon girl came to the human world, she was willing to turn into resurrection grass to save all living beings. Resurrection grass has strong vitality; after being dried and placed in water, it grows again, hence the name resurrection grass.
