Lemon mint seed planting methods
1. Sowing time: In the Yangtze River basin area of southern China, autumn and winter planting, that is, late October to late November, is suitable; in the north, spring planting, that is, March to April, is suitable.
2. Sowing methods:
① Container: When sowing, a relatively short small flower pot can be used. A milk carton can also be used instead; poke several small holes in the bottom of the carton with an awl.
② Soil: Herb seeds are relatively small, and the germination rate is relatively low, so the soil generally used for sowing needs to be loose, breathable, highly water-retentive, and thoroughly disinfected. Generally, a mix of vermiculite, peat, sphagnum moss, perlite, osmund fiber, etc. is used.
③ Broadcasting: Dip your hand into some seeds and gently scatter them on the soil. Then evenly cover with a thin layer of soil, taking care to maintain soil moisture.
④ Watering: After sowing, water thoroughly. Use a fine watering can for watering. It is best to use the bottom-watering method, that is, fill a large basin with 2/3 basin of water and set the container in the basin. Let the water slowly seep in through the bottom holes of the container. After sowing, cover the top of the container with plastic wrap and poke several small holes in the plastic wrap for ventilation. Place the container in sunlight and maintain a temperature of about 20 degrees.
How to germinate lemon mint
1. Preparation for germination: Prepare mint seeds, ordinary facial tissue, a mineral water bottle, and a large plate.
2. Germination steps:
① Mint seed germination generally requires relatively high temperatures, generally around 25-30 degrees.
② First prepare boiled water that has cooled, with a water temperature of about 40 degrees, then pour in the mint seeds and let the mint seeds soak in it for 5 hours. The water temperature does not need to be constant; letting the water cool naturally is enough.
③ After the mint seeds have soaked, start cutting the mineral water bottle into a cylinder about 5 cm tall, then stand the cylindrical part upright on the plate, then lay a sheet of facial tissue on top of the cylinder so that the tissue can hang down to the bottom of the plate, pour the mint seeds onto the facial tissue in the middle of the cylinder, and then cover with another layer of facial tissue. Then add water to the plate. The water will be absorbed upward by the facial tissue and keep the tissue moist, while gravity prevents the tissue from becoming too wet.
