Golden spider plant belongs to the Asparagaceae family, Chlorophytum genus, a perennial evergreen herbaceous plant. Its edges are golden yellow, very attractive, and because the plant has strong growth and reproduction ability, it is suitable for household pot cultivation. So do you know what the seed planting methods for golden spider plant are? What to do if the leaves turn yellow? Can it be placed in the bedroom?

I. Golden spider plant seed planting methods

Golden spider plant can be propagated by cuttings, division, sowing and other methods. Cutting and division propagation can be carried out at any time from spring to autumn. Spider plant has strong adaptability and a high survival rate, and is generally very easy to propagate.

1. Cuttings: Simply take a stolon 5-10 cm long with new buds and insert it into the soil; it will take root in about one week, and after about 20 days it can be transplanted into a pot, watered thoroughly and placed in a shady place for care.

2. Division: The spider plant can be taken out of the pot, the old soil and dead roots removed, the old roots cut apart so that each divided plant retains three stems, and then transplanted and cultivated separately. You can also cut off the clustered stems and leaves on the spider plant's stolon (which is actually a new young plant, with leaves above and aerial roots below) and directly plant it into a flower pot for cultivation.

3. Seed propagation: This can be done in March each year. Because its seeds are not large, after sowing the seeds the covering soil should not be thick, generally 0.5 cm is enough. At a temperature of 15°C, the seeds can sprout in about 2 weeks, and after the seedlings take shape they can be transplanted for cultivation.

4. Repotting: Spider plant can be repotted as needed, and repotting can be done in spring.

5. Placement: A golden spider plant placed in a bathroom, on a windowsill or on a shelf in these narrow spaces is very eye-catching. Its slender, graceful branches and leaves can effectively absorb formaldehyde released by curtains and even toilet paper, and fully purify the air. The naturally drooping branches and leaves of the spider plant are very beautiful, and when the branches and leaves are luxuriant, it will occasionally rotate slightly. Moreover, caring for it is not complicated at all.

II. What to do if the leaves of the golden spider plant turn yellow

1. Improper fertilization: Excessive fertilization causes the leaves to turn yellow. When fertilization exceeds the plant's needs, at first the leaves become glossy and uneven, then the root system rots and the leaves turn yellow.

Treatment method: Stop fertilizing, water with more clean water, or repot to clean the roots and replace with new soil.

2. Nutrient loss: The various nutrient elements contained in the potting soil have been exhausted, and the three elements nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium have not been supplemented in time. The plant lacks nutrients, and the leaves appear yellow and thin.

Treatment method: Promptly replace with fertile loam and water with alum fertilizer water.

3. Insufficient sunlight: Although spider plant is a semi-shade flower, it still needs at least four hours of scattered light every day, otherwise chlorophyll decreases and the leaves turn yellow.

Treatment method: Take some free time each day to place the spider plant in the sunlight for a few hours, but it must not be exposed to the sun too much.

4. Poor air permeability and water permeability of the potting soil: The potting soil retains water and does not dry out for a long time, root respiration becomes difficult, causing the leaves to turn yellow.

Treatment method: Loosen the soil in time and control moisture. Fifth, long-term watering without thorough watering. The spider plant's roots lose water, and the lower old leaves turn yellow. Water thoroughly and keep the potting soil warm and moist.

III. Can the golden spider plant be placed in the bedroom?

Many flower lovers want to move the golden spider plant into the bedroom, so can the golden spider plant be placed in the bedroom? Actually, it cannot. Although spider plant has a good effect on absorbing harmful gases and purifying indoor air. But spider plant still releases carbon dioxide at night, so it is best to put it indoors during the day and move it out of the room at night. After all, the bedroom is the most intimate place for people's daily life, so it is better not to place this kind of plant there.
