Verbena (Glandularia) verbena: sowing, continuous-bloom care, and seed price per gram
Verbena is a perennial herbaceous plant in the Verbenaceae family, genus Verbena. It can be used as flowerbed and flower border material, or grown as potted flowers and planted on a large scale in spots suitable for potted display, or used to arrange flower terraces, garden gaps, and tree beds. So do you know how to sow verbena? How should it be cared for so it blooms continuously? How much do the seeds cost per gram? On flower wholesale websites, verbena seeds are sold by the gram, and the price of verbena is 4 yuan per gram. If the wholesale quantity reaches more than 100 grams, the price becomes very low, at 0.6 yuan per gram.

I. How to sow verbena
1. Sowing time
Verbena is often sown in autumn in late September.
2. Preparation before sowing
① Sterilize the substrate to prevent infection by pathogens. Common disinfection methods include sun exposure, placing the soil directly under the sun to bake, or heating the soil in a pot to directly kill pests and diseases.
② Pre-sprouting: soak the seeds in warm water for three to ten hours, until the seeds absorb water and swell.
3. Sowing
Sow verbena evenly into a seedling tray, cover with about 1 cm of soil, and after sowing use a sprayer to moisten the sowing substrate. Afterward, when the potting soil is slightly dry, still keep watering, but the force of watering must not be too strong, so as not to wash the seeds up.
4. Management after sowing
After sowing in autumn, when encountering a cold wave and low temperatures, you can wrap the flower pot in plastic film to help keep warmth and moisture; after the seedlings emerge, uncover the film in time, and let the seedlings receive sunlight before 9:30 every morning or after 3:30 in the afternoon, otherwise the seedlings will grow very weak; after most of the seeds have sprouted, appropriate thinning is needed: pull out the diseased and unhealthy seedlings so that the remaining seedlings have a certain space between each other; when most of the seedlings have grown 3 or more leaves, they can be transplanted into pots.
II. How to care for verbena so it blooms continuously
1. Soil
Verbena does not have high requirements for soil, but it is best to use loose, fertile, breathable neutral soil, which allows the roots to grow very well and become more and more vigorous, blooming profusely.
2. Light
Verbena is a plant that loves strong light. Only sufficient light can make the plant full in shape and the flowers abundant and brightly colored.
3. Watering
Verbena is not tolerant of drought, and the potting soil should be kept moist. In spring, autumn, and winter, water about once every 2-3 days; in summer, water once a day or once each in the morning and evening.
4. Fertilizing
Verbena has a relatively large demand for fertilizer, but concentrated fertilizer cannot be used. Generally, dilute fertilizer is applied frequently, and the nutrients must be complete, so as to ensure healthy growth.
5. Pruning
When the seedlings grow to 10 cm tall, pinch off the growing tips so they can send out new branches and bloom. Prune branches with old leaves and yellow leaves once every 2 months. As long as the temperature is suitable, it can bloom in all four seasons.
