How much does a jin of jacaranda seeds cost? How many years until it blooms after planting? What period does it bloom?
Jacaranda, a deciduous tree of the Bignoniaceae family, grows up to 15 m tall. Native to Brazil in South America, it has been introduced and cultivated in China in recent years for ornamental purposes. So how much does a jin of jacaranda seeds cost? How many years until it blooms after planting? What period does it bloom?

How much do jacaranda seeds cost per jin?
Generally around 60. Jacaranda is a tree valued for its ornamental appeal, foliage and flowers, and is widely planted as a street tree in tropical and warm subtropical regions. Its wood is yellowish white to gray, soft and light, with straight grain, easy to work, and can be used as furniture timber. This species has both ornamental and economic value.
How many years until jacaranda blooms after planting
From a young seedling to a marketable tree, it generally takes about 6-8 years to bloom.
It is planted at Xiamen University in Fujian, very large, very tall, probably about 20 years now.
When does jacaranda bloom?
Generally, its flowering period is concentrated in the three seasons of spring, summer and autumn. Specifically, it has two blooming periods each year. The first starts in early May, reaches full bloom in mid-June, and ends in early July. The second blooming starts in late August and ends in mid-October. Friends who want to admire the flowers should take note: you can choose the stage when the flowers are in full bloom to go and admire them.
Cultivation techniques
Propagation methods
The propagation methods of jacaranda include seed propagation, cutting propagation, and tissue culture propagation.
Seed propagation:
The fruit ripening period of jacaranda is in November. After picking, it should be placed in a windless spot for sun-drying or heaped up, and stored after drying, then sown in March of the following year. Since jacaranda is native to tropical regions, the temperature at sowing should be around 20 degrees.
Cutting propagation:
Cutting propagation of jacaranda can be done in both spring and autumn. When taking cuttings, semi-mature branches should be selected as cuttings, as this gives a high rooting rate.
Tissue culture propagation:
Tissue culture is also relatively easy. Some research institutions in China have used the stem tips and stem segments of seedlings as explants to propagate a large number of test-tube plantlets.
Planting management
Temperature and light
It prefers a warm, humid, sunny environment and is not tolerant of frost or snow. The suitable growing temperature is 22 to 30°C; if the winter temperature is below 15°C, growth stops; if below 3 to 5°C, there is cold damage; if the summer temperature is above 32°C, growth is also inhibited. It likes light and can tolerate partial shade.
Soil and fertilization
It prefers fertile, moist sandy loam or loam. When planting out, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied. After it survives, topdressing is needed once each in spring and autumn, and pruning and shaping should be done once every early spring; aged plants need heavy pruning. When grown in pots, the trunk can be cut back or grafted for dwarfing, and watering and nitrogen fertilizer application should be controlled.
Pest and disease control
Jacaranda has few diseases. The main pest is the longhorn beetle. If reddish-brown frass is found at the base of the trunk, a small knife can be used to pry open the bark layer to catch the larvae; alternatively, before the adults emerge, apply a mixture of 10 parts quicklime, 1 part sulfur and salt below 80 cm on the trunk base to prevent the adults from laying eggs.
