Perfume lily is also known as Casablanca, and is also called heavenly lily; it is also a type of lily. The flower language of the perfume lily is great love, so many people are very fond of perfume lilies. So how do you care for a perfume lily? When is the best time to plant it? How many times does it bloom a year?

Perfume Lily Cultivation Methods

Propagation methods: there are methods such as bulb division propagation, scale cuttings, seed propagation and tissue culture.

Propagation time: the best planting time is August-September, and for potted plants it is best in September-October.

Soil: it prefers fertile, loose, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, and avoids alkaline or heavy clay soil.

Temperature: the suitable growing temperature is 15-25 degrees; above 30 degrees or below 10 it grows poorly or stops growing.

Light: different growth stages have different light needs; the bud stage needs shading, summer high temperatures need shading, and the early stage of flower development needs increased light.

Watering: just keep the potting soil moist when watering; it should not be too wet or waterlogged, otherwise it easily causes root and bulb rot and death.

Fertilizing: it has a relatively high demand for nitrogen fertilizer and potassium fertilizer, and during the peak growing season it should be applied once every ten days to half a month; remember to control phosphorus fertilizer application, as too much phosphorus fertilizer will cause the leaves to turn yellow and dry.

Precautions

Pruning: in order to make the bulb grow fuller and stronger, after the perfume lily finishes blooming you can cut it off at the base to reduce nutrient consumption. If you want to keep the seed bulb, then continue fertilizing to replenish nutrients, and after about one month you can dig out the seed bulb and plant it again later.

Plant growing crooked: many friends find during cultivation that the perfume lily they are growing becomes more and more crooked, affecting its ornamental beauty. Actually it is very easy to solve: during its growing period, turn the pot once a week, and it will not grow crooked.

How many times does a perfume lily bloom a year?

Under natural conditions, a lily blooms only once a year. However, with artificial intervention, it is not impossible for it to bloom twice a year, though this comes at the cost of harming the bulb.

Hydroponic Methods for Perfume Lilies

Change the water frequently

First, if you want to grow perfume lilies hydroponically, you must change the water frequently. Usually at temperatures above 20 degrees, it is best to change the water once every 2 to 3 days; if the temperature is in the range of 15 to 20 degrees, changing it once every 3 days to 1 week is enough; if the temperature is lower still, it is best to change it once a week.

Plenty of sunlight

Hydroponic perfume lilies very much need plenty of sunlight. During cultivation, care should be taken to keep the temperature between 15°C and 25°C. If the temperature is too low, the perfume lily will be unable to grow normally, and if the daily light duration increases, it will make the lily bloom early; but if there is insufficient light, it will cause the flowering time to be delayed.

Sunlight

Add nutrient solution

The medium for cultivating perfume lilies now is water, which lacks certain nutrient elements, so we need to add some suitable nutrient solution to help the plant grow. Of course, different plants also need different nutrients, so we need to prepare a nutrient solution suitable for plant growth to meet their needs.

Nutrients

Prune in time

Perfume lilies are used for flower arranging, decoration and so on, and generally need regular pruning; usually pruning once every two to three days is enough. Regular pruning not only makes the lily more beautiful, but also helps the plant absorb water better and can extend the lily's flowering period.

Growth requirements

Note that during hydroponic cultivation, the environmental climate is best warm, humid, cool and cold; the temperature must not be too high, and in summer it is best to place it indoors for cultivation.
