Dragon fruit is a fruit with relatively high nutritional value. It is currently quite common on the market, and its market prospects are relatively stable. It is mainly widely planted in southern China. So how much is dragon fruit per jin? Do you know the planting time and techniques? In which month does it bloom?

I. How much is dragon fruit per jin?

Everyone knows that dragon fruit can be divided into red-fleshed and white-fleshed types, and the red-fleshed one is more expensive. The market price of red-fleshed dragon fruit is basically 20-22 yuan/kg, and the price of white-fleshed dragon fruit is basically 16-18 yuan/kg. The price of dragon fruit is not very expensive compared with some other imported fruits.

Whether dragon fruit can be eaten on an empty stomach depends on your digestive capacity and the season. If your digestive capacity is strong, there is no problem; if it is summer, then generally there is no problem either. In winter, when the weather is cold, even people with good digestion are not quite suited to eating it.

Because dragon fruit is sweet in nature and flavor, and women with a cold-deficient constitution should not eat too much dragon fruit, it is recommended to drink dragon fruit juice after meals, which is more suitable.

II. Do you know the planting time and techniques of dragon fruit?

1. Planting time

Many friends think that dragon fruit can be planted in all four seasons, and that is correct, but that is taking tropical regions as an example. In China, the most suitable time is still spring, generally starting planting in March-April. Dragon fruit is a fruit that leans tropical, and its temperature requirement is generally above 18°C. When it is above 40°C, it will damage the fruit tree. So in China, spring is generally just suitable, and by the hot summer we can already harvest, so it will not cause a reduction in yield.

2. Planting methods

(1) Land selection

Actually, dragon fruit has very low requirements for soil, and some relatively barren places can also be planted, but in that case a lot of fertilizer needs to be applied widely, and the size and taste may not meet standards, resulting in loss of economic benefits. Generally speaking, normal cultivated land or sloping terraced soil is fine, but for high yield it is still necessary to choose land with long direct sunlight, good soil permeability, and good conditions for irrigation and drainage, so that daily manual management can save a lot of worry.

(2) Fertilizer and water management

Dragon fruit has a multi-harvest system and can be harvested multiple times a year, so its fertilization lies in applying small amounts many times. Dragon fruit is a plant with relatively shallow roots, so our daily watering needs to be concentrated on irrigating the roots. Otherwise, the water poured will directly seep into the ground, and if the roots cannot absorb it, the watering is wasted. After each flowering, fertilization should begin, mainly with organic fertilizer, scattered around the roots to help absorption of the fertilizer. If conditions permit, some farmyard manure can be applied to maintain the overall nutritional needs of the plant.

(3) Field management

After planting dragon fruit, support structures should be set up around it, and the plant should be tied to the support to help it grow. In daily field work, dead branches need to be cleared away. Generally, when the branch length reaches 1.2 m, its core is removed. This is done to ensure that the nutrients of the dragon fruit can be supplied to other healthy branches to the greatest extent, so as to bear fruit better. When the weather is too hot, use the method of broad watering and use water vapor to lower the temperature. The sprayed water should preferably simulate fine rain to avoid damaging the roots.

III. In which month does dragon fruit bloom?

The flowering and fruiting period of dragon fruit is from May to November each year. It can bloom 12-15 times each year. When the fruit gradually changes from green to purplish red, it can be harvested.
