How to plant camellia seeds? Growing methods revealed
This year a fresh, lighthearted song became a hit across all the major platforms. That song is "White Camellia." So do you know how to grow camellias? Actually, they are usually grown by cuttings or grafting. But camellias have another growing method too~ and that is growing from seed. Today the editor will share with you the method for growing camellia seeds.

How to grow camellia seeds
1. Harvesting
Autumn is the season when the fruit ripens. This is the best time to harvest the seeds. Wait until the fruit splits open just a little, then harvest it right away. Then pile it in an empty, cool and well-ventilated place at home. Let it dry naturally.
2. Storage
Generally speaking, once camellia seeds are harvested they need to be sown immediately. Of course, they can also be stored, but it is much more troublesome. We need to treat them by stratification with sand storage. That is, wash and disinfect fine sand and spread it in a container. Then spread the seeds on top, then cover with a 5 cm thick layer of fine sand. Then it also needs to be buried in the soil. It really is quite troublesome.
3. Seed treatment
The seed coat of camellia seeds is very hard. We need to treat them a bit to ensure the seeds can germinate quickly and evenly. So we need to:
(1) Score the seed coat with a knife
(2) Soak the seeds in warm water at 40 to 50 degrees for half an hour. Then soak them in water at 20 to 25 degrees for 5 to 6 days. Take the seeds at the very bottom for sowing.
(3) Soak them in an appropriate amount of gibberellin for a full day and night
4. Sowing
There are two situations. A large quantity and a small quantity.
Large quantity: we can use the seedbed strip sowing method. You can adjust the size and spacing of the seedbed strips according to your own actual situation. Note that the seed's sprout eye should face downward. Make holes 5 cm deep. Leave spacing between each plant. After all sowing is finished, water thoroughly.
Small quantity: for a small quantity you can just sow directly in pots. Plant the seeds in the pot, cover with 1 to 1.5 cm of soil. Just spray with water using a spray bottle.
5. Care
After sowing them all, we can cover them with plastic film. This keeps the temperature and humidity constant. It can also avoid direct sunlight. But you need to ventilate it properly every day.
