Because of their bright color, juicy flesh and high nutritional value, they are known as the “queen of fruits” and are therefore loved by many people. Many growers also want to grow them, so how much is a jin of strawberries? What are the prospects for growing them?

I. How much is a jin of strawberries?

The market price of strawberries is not fixed. Because their place of origin, variety and time of going on the market differ, their market price also changes. But on the whole, in the fruit market they count as a rather expensive fruit. Under normal circumstances, the retail price of strawberries on the market is about 20-30 yuan per jin; during the peak strawberry season they are just over 10 yuan per jin, and sometimes strawberries can even sell for 35-40 yuan per jin. These are all very normal price fluctuation phenomena. Generally speaking, strawberries sell well throughout the year, especially at Christmas, New Year's Day, Spring Festival and May Day and other such times, which are all excellent strawberry sales periods. Also, American Sweet Charlie strawberries are generally 4-5 yuan per jin, while chocolate-flavored strawberries are generally 18 yuan per jin, Sweet Treasure strawberries average 35 yuan per jin, and Jiangsu Nantong strawberries are generally 9-35 yuan per jin, Hubei Wuhan strawberries are generally 14 yuan per jin, while Sichuan Chengdu strawberries are 9-45 yuan per jin. Therefore, the above strawberry prices are for reference only, and the specific price should be based on the actual price.

II. What are the prospects for strawberry cultivation?

Strawberry cultivation technology in our country is already very mature at present. Basically, a complete set of cultivation techniques has been established, and the strawberry growing industry has decades of accumulation and is widely known by people. Strawberries also have high nutritional value, and many foods use strawberries in their production. Because their taste is excellent, they are deeply loved by some strawberry fans. Strawberries hold a relatively important place in cake making, and strawberry cake is almost one of the most popular varieties among the public. The production of strawberry-series foods has gradually become a development trend today. As there are now more and more ways to eat strawberries, and many strawberry processed products and prepared foods can be seen on the market in daily life, strawberries also play a large role as a flavoring. Many people have the habit of eating strawberry jam, which continuously expands the market development space for strawberries. Therefore, market demand is relatively large, and the strawberry market is very stable; supply will only fall short of demand. From this point of view, growing strawberries is a wealth-building project with very good development prospects. As long as they are grown well and do not encounter a downturn, judging by the current trend, it is certain to be a steady profit.

Summary: The above is the relevant introduction about strawberry prices and cultivation prospects. Growers can refer to the above prices and cultivation prospects when growing strawberries. I hope it is helpful to friends in need!

Strawberry Fragaria ananassa Duchesne
Strawberry cultivation methods and precautions Introduction to strawberries

Strawberry aliases: yangmei, dimei, diguo, hongmei, shiduopili, gaoliangguo, ditao, etc. In horticulture it belongs to the berry-type fruit trees. It is a red flower-fruit. Strawberry is the general name for plants of the genus Fragaria in the rose family, and it is a perennial herbaceous plant. The appearance of the strawberry is heart-shaped, bright red and tender, with juicy flesh and a special rich fruit aroma. Strawberries have high nutritional value and are rich in vitamin C, and help with digestion. At the same time, strawberries can also strengthen the gums, freshen breath and moisten the throat.

Morphological characteristics of strawberries
Strawberry is the most common one among plants of the genus Fragaria in the rose family. It is a perennial herbaceous plant, native to the Americas, and later propagated in France. It is the most widely cultivated strawberry variety. It is an octoploid plant, and seed germination takes 10-15 days. The berry body is dark red, round or heart-shaped, the flesh is pure white, and the sepals and bracts spread open.

The edible part is a false fruit. Unlike most fruits, which develop from the ovary, the strawberry's fruit develops from the receptacle. In other words, what we eat is not the strawberry's fruit, but the part of the receptacle that enlarges after pollination. The true strawberry fruits are instead the many small dots covering the surface of the strawberry.

Morphological characteristics
Strawberries have stolons and compound leaves, with 3 leaflets, elliptical. They bloom in early summer, with cymose inflorescences, and the flowers are white or slightly red. The receptacle enlarges and becomes fleshy; the achenes mature in summer, gathered on the receptacle, forming a red berry-like body. yellow-haired strawberry, perennial herb, stout, densely clustered, 5-25 cm tall. Stems densely covered with yellow-brown soft hairs, almost as long as the leaves. Leaves trifoliolate; petiole 4-18 cm long, densely covered with yellow-brown silky soft hairs; leaflets with short stalks; leaflet blades obovate or elliptical, 1-45 cm long, 0.8-3 cm wide, apex rounded and blunt, base of terminal leaflet wedge-shaped, base of lateral leaflets oblique, margin with incised serrations, serration tips acute or rounded and blunt, upper surface dark green, sparsely covered with soft hairs, lower surface pale green, covered with yellow-brown silky soft hairs, hairs along the veins long and dense. Cymose inflorescence 1-6 flowers; lower part of inflorescence with one or three stalked leaflets; pedicels covered with spreading yellow silky soft hairs; flowers bisexual, 1-2 cm in diameter, sepals ovate-lanceolate, wider than or nearly equal to the epicalyx segments, epicalyx segments lanceolate, entire or 2-lobed, enlarging in fruit; petals 5, round, base with a short claw, white; stamens 20, unequal in length. Aggregate fruit round, white, pale white-yellow or red, persistent sepals upright, closely appressed to the fruit; achenes ovate, smooth. Flowering period April-July, fruiting period June-August.
Characteristics
Modern strawberries, through hybridization, have already been able to adapt to various climates except for frost.
The fruit is slightly heart-shaped, bright red and juicy, soft in texture, moderately sweet and sour, and aromatic in smell. It also propagates easily; it only takes half a year to bear fruit and be harvested, and the harvest time is January and February in winter. Each plant can be harvested for two years, and the harvest period is also as long as half a year, which can increase land use rate and income for orchards before the fruit trees mature and bear fruit. However, because of the characteristics of the fruit, strawberries must not be treated with pesticides once they enter the flowering period.

Ecological habits of strawberries Growth habits
Strawberry is a perennial evergreen herb of the genus Fragaria in the rose family, with stolons, and the plant height generally does not exceed 30 cm. Its branches and vines are emerald green, the fruit is bright red, and white flowers cluster together. It can be enjoyed as an ornamental, the fruit can be eaten, and it can also be processed into strawberry jam, strawberry wine, etc.
Strawberries originated in Chile and are now widely cultivated around the world, with more than 2,000 varieties. Strawberries love light, like moisture, fear waterlogging, are not drought-tolerant, are relatively cold-tolerant, and like fertile, well-aerated sandy loam soil. When the spring temperature rises above 5 degrees, the plants begin to sprout, and the most suitable growth temperature is 20-26 degrees. In the Jiangsu area, they sprout in late February, bloom in early to mid-April, and the fruit ripens in mid to late May. In autumn, when the temperature is below 17 degrees and under short-day conditions of 10-12 hours, flower buds differentiate, and in winter there is a short period of dormancy.

Distribution area of strawberries
Strawberry Strawberry is the fruit of the strawberry plant in the rose family, a perennial herbaceous plant with white flowers. It is native to South America, Europe and other places, and is now widely cultivated around the world. Strawberries are cultivated in all parts of our country, and there are also wild ones. Each year in summer, when the fruit matures from June to July, it is picked and used fresh.
Uses of strawberries Nutritional value andEfficacy and effects
The carotene contained in strawberries is an important substance for synthesizing vitamin A, and has the effect of improving eyesight and nourishing the liver.
Strawberries have a certain nourishing and regulating effect on the gastrointestinal tract and anemia.
Besides preventing scurvy, strawberries also have a relatively good therapeutic effect on preventing and treating arteriosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
Strawberry is a plant rich in tannic acid, which can adsorb and prevent the absorption of carcinogenic chemicals in the body, and has an anti-cancer effect.
Strawberries contain aspartic acid, which can naturally and gently remove heavy metal ions from the body. Strawberries are bright in color, soft and juicy in fruit, rich in fragrance, agreeable in sweetness and sourness, and rich in nutrition, and are deeply loved by consumers at home and abroad. They belong to high-grade fruits.
Strawberries are rich in amino acids, fructose, sucrose, glucose, citric acid, malic acid, pectin, carotene, vitamin B1, B2, niacin and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and iron. These nutrients have a very good promoting effect on growth and development, and are of great benefit to the elderly and children. Foreign scholars have found through research that the active ingredients in strawberries can inhibit the growth of cancerous tumors. Every 100 grams of strawberries contains 50-100 mg of vitamin C, more than 10 times higher than apples and grapes. Scientific research has already confirmed that vitamin C can eliminate the relaxed and tense states between cells, make brain cell structures firm, and make skin delicate and elastic, and has an important influence on brain and intellectual development. Eating some strawberries after a meal can break down food fat and aid digestion.

Efficacy and effects I. Eating strawberries before meals relieves poor appetite
When encountering food stagnation, abdominal bloating and poor appetite, you can eat 60 grams of strawberries before meals, 3 times a day;
When there is gum bleeding, mouth and tongue sores, little urine or yellow urine, you can mash 60 grams of fresh strawberries and take them with cold boiled water, 3 times a day.
Fresh strawberries stewed with rock sugar in a double boiler:
When there is dry cough without phlegm that does not heal for a long time, you can stew 6 grams of fresh strawberries together with 30 grams of rock sugar in a double boiler and take it, 3 times a day;
When encountering vexing heat, dry cough, sore and swollen throat, or hoarseness, you can wash fresh strawberries and squeeze the juice, and drink one cup each morning and evening.
II. Strawberries have a regulating effect on the gastrointestinal tract and anemia
Modern medical research believes that strawberries have a certain nourishing and regulating effect on the gastrointestinal tract and anemia. Besides preventing scurvy, strawberries also have a relatively good effect on preventing and treating arteriosclerosis and coronary heart disease. The vitamins and pectin in strawberries have a certain effect on improving constipation and treating hemorrhoids, high blood pressure and hyperlipidemia. Strawberries contain an amine substance that also has an auxiliary therapeutic effect on blood diseases such as leukemia and aplastic anemia. Strawberry is a plant rich in tannic acid, which can adsorb and prevent the absorption of carcinogenic chemicals in the body, and has an anti-cancer effect.
III. Fresh strawberries help sober you up
When feeling dizzy and unwell after drinking alcohol, you can eat 100 grams of fresh strawberries at one time; after washing, eat them all at once, which helps sober you up;
For those who are malnourished or weak and thin after illness, you can squeeze washed strawberries into juice, then add an equal amount of rice wine and mix well to make strawberry wine, and drink 1 cup each morning and evening.
IV. Whitening teeth
Because the malic acid contained in strawberries acts as an astringent, when mixed with baking powder it produces an oxidizing effect that can remove stains left on the tooth surface by coffee, red wine and cola.
V. Helps heart health
According to a new British study published in the British "Daily Mail", the antioxidant anthocyanin contained in red, blue and purple berries and vegetables such as blueberries and strawberries has the effect of preventing and repairing cell damage.
A new study by researchers at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom further explains this. The study followed 93,000 people for 18 years. The participants were divided into 5 groups, aged 25-42, and they reported their diet and other conditions affecting heart health once every 4 years, such as whether they had high blood pressure, a family history of heart disease, whether their weight was excessive or obese, whether they had exercise habits, and whether they smoked or drank alcohol.
The results found that people who ate at least 3 servings of blueberries or strawberries per week (one serving about half a cup) had a lower incidence of heart disease than other participants. Dr. Aedin Cassidy, the head of the study, said that natural antioxidants in red, blue and purple fruits and vegetables can reduce the risk of heart disease in young and middle-aged people by 32%. The study believes that eating more fruits and vegetables rich in anthocyanins when young is more helpful in reducing the risk of heart disease later in life. Anthocyanins help raise the level of good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol), and can also reduce inflammation in the body related to heart disease. Besides blueberries and strawberries, foods rich in anthocyanins also include purple eggplant, plums and cherries.

Harvesting and storage of strawberries Harvesting and storage
Strawberries are not tolerant of transport and storage. If the corresponding transport procedures cannot be done well, then processing the strawberries should be considered.

Harvesting
Harvest in the morning or evening. For fresh eating, it is best to harvest when 80% ripe; for processing use, it is enough when 70-80% colored. When picking, a fruit stalk of half a centimeter to one centimeter must be retained; if too long, it easily damages other strawberries.

Storage
The best storage environment is a refrigerator kept near zero degrees but without frost. In addition, ultraviolet light or inert gas is also used for preservation. Quick freezing is also one of the effective preservation methods. When washing strawberries, gently wash them first and then remove the calyx, which can avoid the loss of vitamin C, and the impurities attached to the strawberries will not get in from the calyx during the washing process.

Preservation methods
Room-temperature storage time: 2 days
Notes during storage:
Choose fresh strawberries; the fresher they are, the easier they are to preserve.
When picking and carrying strawberries, be careful not to bump them, so as not to damage the strawberry tissue.
Do not wash all the strawberries you bought at once; wash only as many as you will eat, and put the rest in the refrigerator to chill.
Strawberries are suitable for storage below 10 degrees and above zero degrees.
Strawberries can also be preserved by the fresh quick-freezing method, frozen into ice strawberries, which allows a longer storage time.
When preserving strawberries, it is best not to let them touch water.

Selection methods

Winter has come, and it is once again the season for eating strawberries! In the major fruit shops in the urban area of Guangzhou, the first batch of expensive greenhouse strawberries has gone on the market. Among them are some shipped to Guangzhou from other places, and some grown by local Guangzhou fruit farmers. However, faced with today's large and variously shaped strawberries, many citizens who want to try something fresh are at a loss. Most citizens worry: "Do these strawberries have hormones?" "Were they enlarged with a swelling agent?" To resolve the doubts in their hearts, the editor specially verified a lot of information to resolve these doubts.
"The weather is so cold, how are these strawberries so big?" In a fruit shop in the urban area, citizen Auntie Wang hesitated over whether to buy some strawberries to eat. "Not only are they big, some are also strangely shaped. They weren't forced to grow with hormones or a swelling agent or something, were they?" Strawberries are actually very popular with people and are often used as an ingredient in all kinds of delicious foods, such as the easy-to-learn and tasty water chestnut strawberry balls, and strawberry ice cream and so on.
Speaking of it, the strawberries sold on the market today really do differ quite a bit in size and shape. The small ones are about the size of a quail egg, while the large ones are as big as a duck egg. Moreover, some strawberries are not the cone-shaped faces everyone remembers from comic books, but instead look like miniaturized Buddha's hands, which is baffling. What is more, some strawberries have no fuzz, and their color is also darker than the strawberries seen in the past.
What exactly is the reason for this? Is it really because hormones were injected? Actually, this is all "caused by low temperatures."
Winter strawberries are not as soft, tender and juicy as spring ones, and sunlight is also insufficient. In addition, there are mostly cloudy days, so the carbohydrates formed by strawberry photosynthesis are fewer. This is also one of the reasons why winter strawberries are relatively easier to preserve and are not easy to spoil even after a few days.
Of course, there are also fruit-selection experts. Some citizens are very experienced in choosing fresh strawberries and know that whether the strawberry surface has fuzz is one standard for whether strawberries are fresh. So if the strawberries are all "bald," does that mean they are not fresh? This is because some strawberries on the market right now are shipped over from places such as Hainan, and the relatively fragile strawberries inevitably lose their fuzz during long-distance transport.
Friendly reminder: Strawberries that have used swelling agents or hormones often have very thin skins and simply cannot withstand the bumps of long-distance transport. If the transport time is long, they would already be battered beyond recognition.

Proper washing of strawberries
The reason strawberries are relatively difficult to wash is mainly that their surface is rough and their skin is very thin, breaking as soon as they are washed. Therefore, many people, to save trouble, simply rinse them with water and eat them. In fact, strawberries are herbaceous plants, the plants are relatively short, and the fruit is tender and juicy. All these make them susceptible to pests, diseases and microorganisms. Therefore, in the process of growing strawberries, pesticides must be used frequently. These pesticides, fertilizers and germs easily attach to the rough surface of strawberries. If they are not washed clean, they may cause diarrhea or even pesticide poisoning.
To wash strawberries clean, it is best to rinse them continuously with tap water; flowing water can prevent pesticides from penetrating into the fruit. Washed strawberries should also not be eaten immediately; it is best to soak them for 5 minutes in light salt water or rice-washing water. Light salt water can kill harmful microorganisms remaining on the strawberry surface; rice-washing water is alkaline and can promote the degradation of acidic pesticides. When washing strawberries, be very careful not to remove the strawberry calyx. If strawberries with the calyx removed are soaked in water, residual pesticides will enter the inside of the fruit with the water, causing more serious contamination. In addition, do not soak strawberries in cleaning agents such as dishwashing liquid; these substances are difficult to rinse clean and easily remain in the fruit, causing secondary contamination.

Cleaning Methods
Do not use ordinary detergent to wash strawberries. The chemical ingredients in detergent can easily remain on the strawberries, which is harmful to human health. The best approach is to use a professional Bluehealth oxygen machine for cleaning, or to rinse the strawberries with salt water. However, never soak them in water for too long, otherwise all the vitamins in the strawberries will be lost, reducing their nutritional value, and pesticides dissolved in the water may seep back into the strawberries.

Tips for Washing Strawberries
Strawberries are bright red and beautiful, sweet and tart, and are a fruit with excellent color, aroma and taste. Since strawberries, unlike pears and apples, cannot be peeled before eating, and their surface is uneven and their skin is very thin and easily damaged with only slight pressure, many people do not know how to wash them. Some people simply eat them without washing, and people often suffer from diarrhea and other illnesses after eating unclean strawberries.
First, rinse continuously under running tap water for several minutes to remove most of the germs, pesticides and other contaminants on the surface of the strawberries. Note: do not soak them in water first, to avoid pesticides dissolving in the water and then being absorbed by the strawberries and seeping into the interior of the fruit; soak the strawberries in rice-washing water (preferably the first rice-washing water) and lightly salted water (add half a ladle of salt to a basin of water) for 3 minutes. Their effects differ: the alkaline rice-washing water helps break down pesticides; the lightly salted water can make insects and insect eggs attached to the surface of the strawberries float up so they can be rinsed away, and it also has a certain disinfecting effect. Then rinse with running tap water to wash away the rice-washing water, lightly salted water and any remaining harmful substances. Finally, rinse once with clean water (or cooled boiled water).
Another reminder: do not remove the strawberry calyx before washing, to avoid pesticides and contaminants seeping into the fruit through the "wound" during soaking and causing contamination instead.

Strawberry Preservation Methods
Strawberry berries are soft and juicy, delicious and refreshing, and are suitable for quick-freezing preservation and storage. After quick-freezing, strawberries can retain their original color, aroma and taste, making them easy both to store and to export.
1. Quick-freezing process flow: select fruit → remove calyx → wash fruit → disinfect → rinse → drain water → arrange on trays → quick-freeze → package → cold store.
2. Operational key points (1) Fruit selection and calyx removal. Select fruits with intact shape, moderate size and high ripeness, and use a small knife to cut off the stem and calyx. (2) Washing and disinfection. Place the strawberries in a pool with a drain outlet and rinse. You may stir gently with a round wooden stick, but do not let the stick reach the bottom of the pool, to avoid stirring up the settled mud and sand. After washing, soak in a 0.02%-0.05% potassium permanganate solution for 4-5 minutes, then rinse 1-2 times with clean water. (3) Arranging on trays and quick-freezing. Before arranging on trays, drain the surface water from the fruit, or dry it with a hair dryer, to avoid the frozen product having surface water or sticking together. Then arrange the fruit flat on trays for quick-freezing; some need sugar added before quick-freezing. During quick-freezing, keep the temperature at -25°C or below until the core temperature of the fruit reaches -15°C. (4) Packaging and cold storage. If for fresh sale, small packages may be used, 0.5-1 kg per box (bag); if for distant sale or processing, 7.5 kg per box (bag), with two boxes (bags) per carton. Send the packaged quick-frozen strawberries to a cold storage warehouse. At a cold storage temperature of -18°C, they can be stored for 12-18 months.
3. Thawing. According to tests, quick-frozen strawberries have the best quality after slow thawing at 5°C-10°C for 80-90 minutes, with little cell fluid loss and good mouthfeel retained. They should be eaten immediately after thawing; do not refreeze after thawing at low temperature, or leave them for a long time after thawing before eating, otherwise their quality will decline.

How to Eat Strawberries and Who They SuitThe general population can eat them.

Related Products
Taiwan, China: Dahu Township in Miaoli County, Taiwan, China, is also known as the Strawberry Kingdom. It is the place with the highest output, the highest planting density and the most mature strawberry cultivation techniques in Taiwan, China, and is also the main source of income for Dahu Township. Besides fresh strawberries, farmers also actively develop strawberry-related products, including strawberry jam, strawberry wine, strawberry ice, strawberry ice cream and strawberry yogurt, and even "strawberry sausage" and "strawberry meatballs."
Hong Kong, China: Strawberry-derived products in Hong Kong, China include strawberry bones and strawberry pudding.

Points to Note When Eating

First, do not buy deformed strawberries. Normally grown strawberries are heart-shaped in appearance, but some strawberries are brightly colored and large, with deformed bumps on the surface, and are hollow in the middle when bitten open. Such deformed berries may be caused by the excessive use of hormones during cultivation (deformed fruit may also be caused by poor pollination environmental conditions and be unrelated to hormone use). Long-term large consumption of such fruit may harm human health. Pregnant women and children in particular should not eat deformed berries.
In addition, because strawberries are low-growing herbaceous plants, although they are cultivated and grown under plastic film, they are still easily contaminated by soil and bacteria during growth, so before strawberries enter the mouth, the "cleaning stage" must be done well.

Dietary Contraindications

People with excessive phlegm-dampness, those with slippery intestines and diarrhea, and patients with urinary tract stones should not eat too many strawberries. Strawberries contain an oxalic acid-like substance that can cause poor development of the capillaries of a pregnant woman's fetus. The oxalic acid-like substance neutralizes a certain alkaline substance during the fetus's development, thereby impairing the baby's capillary development. Although it has a certain effect on brain development, pregnant women should still eat less of it.

Homemade Jam
Ingredients: 300 g fresh strawberries, 180 g fine granulated sugar, 20 g lemon juice
Production Process
Wash the strawberries, dry off the water, and cut them with a knife. Cut small strawberries in half, and cut large ones into quarters.
Add fine granulated sugar to the strawberries.
Mix well with chopsticks so the sugar evenly coats the strawberries. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for more than 3 hours (if conditions allow, refrigerate for 24 hours).
After refrigeration, the water in the strawberries will seep out, and then you can continue to the next step.
Put the strawberries together with the seeped water into a pot and stir-fry over high heat (an enamel pot or stainless steel pot may be used; do not use an iron pot).
Keep stirring until the strawberries soften, then simmer slowly over medium heat until the liquid dries off.
When it has been stir-fried to a thick state, turn off the heat, add the lemon juice, stir evenly, and the jam is done.
Put the jam into a clean container, seal it and store it in the refrigerator.
Note
Strawberries need to be cut first and marinated with sugar until water seeps out, then stir-fried to make good jam. If the marinating time can reach 24 hours, the effect will be better; if you cannot wait, 3 hours is also OK.
Because strawberries will turn black if stir-fried too long, try to use a large wide-mouthed pot when stir-frying so the water can evaporate faster, rather than narrow-mouthed cookware such as a milk pot.
Strawberry jam is rich in sugar and has a very long shelf life. As long as the container holding the strawberries is clean and sealed, it can be kept in the refrigerator for up to several months.
Lemon juice helps extract pectin and make it effective, so a little lemon juice is added to the recipe. You can use freshly squeezed juice from fresh lemons, or commercially available concentrated lemon juice.
Boiling the jam container in boiling water beforehand and letting it dry naturally can make the jam keep longer.
If you reduce the sugar in the recipe, the shelf life of the jam will also be reduced.

Sweet Weight-loss Technique
This spring, strawberries are all the rage in Turkey and other countries, and Victoria, the wife of Beckham, has widely publicized her success in losing weight through strawberries. In the minds of many fashion-conscious women, strawberries are no longer just a fruit in the ordinary sense, but have become the sweet weight-loss treasure of sisters in spring. As the weather warms, lovely strawberries, dressed in their bright colors, have come freshly onto the market! On this sweet strawberry spring day, sisters, let us raise the curtain on weight loss!
Strawberries are also called red berries, yang berries, ground berries, etc. They are a general term for plants of the genus Fragaria in the rose family, with more than 50 species worldwide. Strawberries originated in Europe and were introduced to our country in the 20th century. Today, the United States, Poland and Russia are the countries that grow the most strawberries in the world. Our country has not grown strawberries for long, and they are mostly cultivated in urban suburbs; those with relatively large output include the cities of Beijing, Tianjin, Shenyang and Hangzhou.
The strawberry is a perennial herbaceous plant. Its fruit develops from the receptacle and is a fleshy aggregate fruit, which differs from ordinary fruits that develop from the ovary. It is heart-shaped in appearance, fresh and tender red, with juicy flesh, sweet and tart, and a rich fragrance. It not only has color, but also a pleasant aroma that ordinary fruits do not have, making it a rare fruit with excellent color, aroma and taste, and it is therefore often praised as the "queen of fruits."
Strawberries are rich in nutrients, containing fructose, sucrose, citric acid, malic acid, salicylic acid, amino acids, and minerals such as calcium, phosphorus and iron. In addition, they contain a variety of vitamins, especially very rich vitamin C, with 60 mg of vitamin C in every 100 g of strawberries. Strawberries also contain pectin and rich dietary fiber, which can help digestion and promote smooth bowel movements. The nutrients in strawberries are easily digested and absorbed by the human body, and eating more will not cause chilling or internal heat, making them a healthy food suitable for all ages.
There are many ways to eat strawberries. If strawberries are mixed with cream or fresh milk, the taste is excellent; washed strawberries mixed with sugar and cream and mashed into strawberry puree, after freezing, are a cool, sweet, fragrant, soft and delicious summer food; strawberry jam used as filling for yuanxiao, steamed buns or flatbreads is even more wonderful food. Strawberries can also be processed into juice, jam, fruit wine and canned goods.

Benefits of eating strawberries
Strawberry is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Rosaceae family, also called yangmei, and is native to South America. It was only introduced into China in the early 20th century. There are many varieties of strawberries, with more than 2,000 varieties. The fruit is bright red and beautiful, soft and juicy, pleasantly sweet and sour, and richly fragrant. Strawberries are nutritious and rich in various active ingredients. Every 100 g of fresh fruit flesh contains 60 mg of vitamin C, which is higher than the content in apples and grapes. The flesh contains large amounts of sugars, proteins, organic acids, pectin, and other nutrients. In addition, strawberries are also rich in vitamin B1, B2, C, PP, as well as calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, zinc, chromium, and other essential minerals and some trace elements. Strawberry is an important source of dietary fiber, iron, potassium, vitamin C, flavonoids, and other components essential to the human body. Strawberry is also called red berry, yang berry, earth berry, and so on. It is a general term for plants of the Fragaria genus in the Rosaceae family, with more than 50 species worldwide.
Strawberry also has relatively high medicinal and medical value. The "strawberry amine" extracted from strawberry plants has a good therapeutic effect on leukemia, aplastic anemia, and other blood diseases. Strawberry is sweet and sour in taste, cool in nature, and non-toxic. It can moisten, promote fluid production, resolve phlegm, strengthen the spleen, sober up alcohol, nourish blood, and transform fat, and it has a certain preventive and therapeutic effect on gastrointestinal diseases and cardiovascular diseases. According to records, drinking fresh strawberry juice can treat sore and swollen throat and hoarseness. Eating strawberries is extremely beneficial for food accumulation with distension and pain, poor appetite, malnutrition, or post-illness weakness and emaciation. In the Guangzhou area, there is a wild strawberry called Dijin strawberry. Local people mash its stems and leaves to apply for treating sores with special effect, and it is also very effective when applied to snake bites, scalds, burns, and so on. Strawberry juice also has the effect of moisturizing and nourishing the skin. Various high-grade beauty creams made from it have a significant effect on slowing the appearance of wrinkles.

According to measurements, every 100 g of strawberry flesh contains 8 to 9 g of sugar, 0.4 to 0.6 g of protein, and 50 to 100 mg of vitamin C, which is 7 to 10 times higher than apples and grapes. Its content of malic acid, citric acid, vitamin B1, vitamin B12, as well as carotene, calcium, phosphorus, and iron is also 3 to 4 times higher than that of apples, pears, and grapes. People in Taiwan, China call strawberries "living vitamin pills," and Germans praise strawberries as "miraculous fruit," which shows that this is not without reason. The nutrients in strawberries are easily digested and absorbed by the human body, and eating more will not cause internal cold or internal heat, making them a healthy food suitable for all ages. There are many ways to eat strawberries, and the taste is especially good.

Pregnant women should eat less
It was recently discovered that strawberries contain an oxalic acid-like substance that can cause poor development of the capillaries in pregnant women's fetuses. The oxalic acid-like substance neutralizes a certain alkaline substance during the fetus's development, thereby hindering the development of the baby's capillaries. Although it has a certain effect on brain development, it is still better for pregnant women to eat less.

Strawberry - an excellent spring health food

With a sweet and sour taste and a refreshing delicate fragrance, strawberries are already on the market in early spring. Because of their high nutritional value, they are especially suitable for health preservation in spring, so nutritionists praise them as "the first fruit of spring."
The "Compendium of Materia Medica" records that strawberries can moisten the lungs, strengthen the spleen, nourish blood, and boost qi. For the elderly, children, and people with weak constitutions, they are an excellent tonic.
The nutritional ratio of strawberries is very reasonable. The vitamin C content is about 10 times that of an equal amount of watermelon, grapes, or apples. In addition, strawberries are rich in iron, fructose, glucose, citric acid[2], malic acid, and so on. For spring conditions such as lung-heat cough, sore throat, and boils, the nutrients contained in strawberries can play an auxiliary therapeutic role. At the same time, because they contain iron, friends with anemia can also eat them often.
However, doctors also note that although strawberries are a very good appetite-stimulating fruit, they are cool in nature, so in early spring, do not eat too many at one time. Especially for people with spleen-stomach deficiency and cold, those prone to diarrhea, and those with excessive stomach acid, strawberry intake should be controlled even more. In addition, people with lung-cold cough (coughing white phlegm) should also not eat strawberries.
In addition, many people like to cut strawberries into pieces and mix them into yogurt or milk to eat together. "From a nutritional perspective, doing this is unreasonable. Because the components in strawberries will affect the absorption of calcium in yogurt and milk, and will also reduce the absorption rate of milk protein," the doctor said.

Foods made from strawberries

There are relatively many ways to eat strawberries. The common method is to rinse the strawberries clean and eat them directly, or mix the washed strawberries with white sugar or sweet milk. The flavor is unique and distinctive. With the development of the food industry, strawberries have been made into various jams, jellies, preserved fruits, canned fruits in syrup, juices, and so on, and the market prospects are very considerable.

The nutrients in strawberries are easily digested and absorbed by the human body, and eating more will not cause internal cold or internal heat, making them a healthy food suitable for all ages. The carotene contained in strawberries is an important substance for synthesizing vitamin A and has the effect of improving eyesight and nourishing the liver. It also contains pectin and rich dietary fiber, which can help digestion and promote smooth bowel movements. Strawberries have a certain nourishing and regulating effect on the gastrointestinal tract and anemia. Besides preventing scurvy, strawberries also have a relatively good effect on preventing and treating arteriosclerosis and coronary heart disease. Strawberry is a plant rich in tannic acid, which can absorb and prevent the absorption of carcinogenic chemicals in the body and has an anti-cancer effect.

Strawberries: Women who often eat strawberries will find them beneficial for the health of both skin and hair. Strawberries are praised as "miraculous fruit" in Germany. Strawberries can also help with weight loss, because they contain a substance called aspartic acid, which can naturally and gently remove "mineral waste" from the body. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that strawberry is sweet and sour in taste and cool in nature. It can moisten the lungs and promote fluid production, strengthen the spleen and harmonize the stomach, nourish blood and boost qi, and cool blood and detoxify, and it has auxiliary therapeutic effects on arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, scurvy, colon cancer, and other diseases. There are diverse ways to eat strawberries: eating them directly, or drizzling them with cream or fructose, are both suitable, and pairing them with ice cream or cheese (dairy cheese) is also a good choice. In regions such as Taiwan, China and Hong Kong, China, strawberries are mostly called strawberry (a transliteration of the English name Strawberry). Imported strawberries are superior in taste to domestic strawberries and are also more uniform in size.

Be alert to two major harms when eating strawberries.
Strawberries are rich in vitamins and minerals. Every 100 g contains as much as 80 mg of vitamin C, far higher than apples and pears; they also contain glucose, fructose, citric acid, malic acid, carotene, riboflavin, and so on. These nutrients have a very good promoting effect on children's growth and development, and are also very beneficial to the health of the elderly. The especially abundant vitamin C can prevent and treat bleeding gums, promote wound healing, and make the skin delicate and elastic.
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that strawberry is sweet in taste and cool in nature, and has the effects of moistening the lungs and promoting fluid production, strengthening the spleen and harmonizing the stomach, and so on. Eating a few strawberries after a meal helps digestion and appetite, strengthens the spleen, and promotes fluid production. Recently, medical scientists have found that regular consumption of strawberries is also beneficial for preventing and treating arteriosclerosis and coronary heart disease. According to research by foreign medical scientists, strawberries contain anti-cancer components that can inhibit the growth of tumor cells. In Europe, strawberries have long enjoyed the reputation of "queen of fruits" and are used as a health food for children and the elderly.

Two points to note when eating strawberries:First, do not buy deformed strawberries. Normally grown strawberries are heart-shaped in appearance, but some strawberries are brightly colored and large, with deformed protrusions on the surface, and after biting open, the middle is hollow. This kind of deformed berry is often caused by the abuse of hormones during cultivation. Long-term and large consumption of such fruit may harm human health. In particular, pregnant women and children must not eat deformed berries. In addition, because strawberries are low-growing herbaceous plants, although they are cultivated and grown in plastic mulch, they are still easily contaminated by soil and bacteria during growth, so before strawberries enter the mouth, the "cleaning step" must be done well.

The main nutritional value of strawberries is reflected in their very high vitamin C content. In recent years, research has found that besides preventing scurvy, vitamin C also has a positive preventive effect on diseases such as arteriosclerosis, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, cerebral hemorrhage, high blood pressure, and high blood lipids. In addition, the carotene in strawberries is an important substance for synthesizing vitamin A and has the effect of improving eyesight and nourishing the liver. The latest foreign research also points out that strawberries contain an amine substance that has a certain effect on treating leukemia and aplastic anemia.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that strawberries have the effects of reducing internal heat, relieving summer heat, and clearing heat. In spring, people's liver fire is often relatively strong, and eating some strawberries can inhibit it. In addition, strawberries are best eaten after meals, because they contain large amounts of pectin and cellulose, which can promote gastrointestinal peristalsis, help digestion, improve constipation, and prevent the occurrence of hemorrhoids and intestinal cancer.

Strawberry cultivation techniques: overview of production and cultivation
At present, most countries in the world cultivate strawberries. The strawberry cultivation area in the United States is 23,000 hectares, with a output of 567,000 tons, accounting for about 28% of world total production, with an average yield of 24.6 tons per hectare. Japan's cultivation area is 11,000 hm2, with a output of 218,000 tons, accounting for 11% of world total production, with an average yield of 19.3 tons per hectare. Europe is a major strawberry producing area, accounting for about 50% of world production. Poland, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, Romania, and the United Kingdom have relatively large cultivation areas, with yields generally 9.5-18.3 tons per hectare.

China is the country with the richest wild strawberry resources in the world. It began using wild strawberries very early and has continued this practice to this day. Large-fruited strawberry cultivation in China began in 1915, but it did not receive attention in the past and developed slowly. Since the 1980s, strawberry production has developed rapidly. China currently has about 70,000 hm2 of strawberry production area, ranking first in the world. The main producing areas are distributed in Anhui, Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, and other eastern coastal regions. In recent years, Sichuan, Anhui, **, Beijing, and other areas have also developed quickly. Key strawberry producing areas include Hefei in Anhui, Dandong in Liaoning, Baoding in Hebei, Yantai in Shandong, the suburbs of Shanghai, Shuangliu in Sichuan, Lianyungang in Jiangsu, and so on. Among them, Changfeng County in Hefei currently has 145,000 mu of strawberry planting area, with an annual output of more than 200,000 tons of strawberries and a total output value of more than 1 billion yuan. By 2012 it will expand to more than 200,000 mu, and it has built the country's only national-level virus-free strawberry science and technology park. Every year, promotion meetings are held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, and matchmaking meetings between distributors and strawberry growers are held at the Beijing Xinfadi Market, Tianjin Hongqi Market, and Shenyang Fruit Wholesale Market. Its production scale has risen from originally first in Anhui Province to becoming the largest strawberry county in China, and Changfeng strawberry has become a well-known trademark in China.

Site selection
Strawberries can be cultivated in the rows between young fruit trees, or a special strawberry garden can be established, choosing a plot with slightly higher terrain, level ground, convenient irrigation, good light, and fertile soil. Before planting, weeds in the field should be thoroughly removed and sufficient base fertilizer applied. Generally, for every 666.7 sq m, apply more than 5,000 kg of decomposed high-quality farmyard manure, plus 50 kg of superphosphate and 50 kg of potassium chloride, or 50 kg of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium ternary compound fertilizer, then plow deeply 30-40 cm to promote soil maturation, and then prepare the land according to the cultivation form, making beds and ridges. In the south, high-bed planting is generally used, with a bed length of 15 cm, height of 25 cm, bed surface width of 50 cm, and furrow width of 30 cm. This planting method is also suitable for greenhouses and plastic tunnels. Its advantages are convenient drainage and irrigation, ventilation and light transmission, good fruit coloration, fewer pests and diseases, and it is also convenient for plastic film mulching and fruit padding, making the fruit less likely to be contaminated by soil and rot; but the disadvantage is that sometimes there is insufficient water supply.
How to grow strawberries: general planting
1. Strawberries are suitable for planting in soil with sufficient sunlight and good drainage. The soil depth should be about 8-10 inches.
2. For large strawberry plants, the row spacing should be 12 inches and the plant spacing about 18 inches. Remove the runners from the plants in time to help the strawberries bear fruit. Strawberry yields are cyclical, so it is best to cultivate some new plants in the first few years of planting.
3. If you do not like managing strawberries, you can plant one strawberry every 18-24 inches, and the strawberries will then spread freely. Of course, it will look a bit messy, and the strawberries will not be very large. If you want to avoid this situation, you can remove some of the runners as appropriate.
4. In autumn, spread a layer of soil over the plants to protect against frost. After the soil freezes, you can then spread 3-4 inches of dry straw over the plants. By the following spring, when new leaves have grown, remove the straw. Once the weather warms up and becomes stable, remove the covering soil from the surface of the plants. However, leave some dry straw between the rows to prevent weeds from growing and to retain soil moisture.

Greenhouse cultivation techniques
In the world's small berry production, strawberries rank first. Strawberries are a cash crop that fruits quickly, ripens early, propagates easily, has a short cycle and high returns.
I. Preparation of the propagation seedling plot. 1. Choose paddy fields that drain and irrigate easily, are not prone to waterlogging, and have relatively high fertility, or vegetable garden soil (previous crops and soil blocks where chlorsulfuron herbicide has been used). Apply sufficient base fertilizer (cake fertilizer, farmyard manure, night soil, phosphate fertilizer), spread it after decomposition, and at the same time apply 1 jin of 50% phoxim or 3 jin of 3% carbofuran per mu, mix with 25 jin of fine soil, spread it, then turn the soil and make beds. The beds are 1.5-1.8 m wide, turtle-back shaped to prevent waterlogging, and the soil must be fine. 2. Selection and planting of each plant. Choose plants with new leaves developing normally, symmetrical leaflets, dark green leaf color, thick petioles, large leaves, vigorous growth and good yielding ability, and remove diseased leaves and old leaves. In our city, planting in the propagation field is generally done in April of the Gregorian calendar (average daily temperature above 12°C). Plant two rows per bed, planting 30 cm from the edge of the bed surface, with a plant spacing of 60-80 cm. After planting, water immediately to settle the roots. 3. Fertilizer and water management. The principle of fertilizing the seedling field is: moderate nitrogen, heavy phosphorus and potassium. Per mu, use 200 jin of decomposed rapeseed cake plus 7-8 jin of urea, 50 jin of phosphate fertilizer and 10 jin of potassium fertilizer, dissolve in water and irrigate once every 20 days. Night soil can also be used as a substitute. 4. After each plant has survived planting (one week later), spray gibberellin (920), that is, each gram of "920" mixed with 40-50 jin of water, (first dissolve the 920 in a clean bowl with high-concentration white liquor) and spray. Spray twice in succession, with an interval of one week to 10 days. In August, strictly control nitrogen fertilizer application and let the plants suffer appropriate drought, but not excessively.
II. Timely transplanting and preparation and specifications of the transplanting site. 1. Field preparation: Choose fertile fields or soil that drain and irrigate easily as the field site. Strawberries have a relatively large fertilizer requirement, and in the later stage (fruit-picking period) fertilizer is generally applied less, so the base fertilizer must be sufficient, mainly organic fertilizer. Generally, per mu: 1500 kg of organic fertilizer, 50 kg of cake fertilizer, 25-30 kg of compound fertilizer, 7.5 kg of urea, 40 kg of superphosphate and 10 kg of potassium fertilizer. Except for urea and compound fertilizer, mix the other fertilizers evenly, let them decompose, then mix evenly with urea and compound fertilizer, spread on the soil surface, and then turn the soil and make ridges. Generally the ridge height is 25-30 cm, the ridge bottom width is 90 cm, and the ridge surface is 60 cm. The ridge furrow width is 30 cm; the ridge bottom plus furrow width is about 100-120 cm, and there is a certain slope from the ridge surface to the furrow bottom. 2. Planting period and method: Protected cultivation in our city is generally transplanted from the end of September to the beginning of October. The planting density should be treated according to seedling condition and whether the land is fertile or poor; strong seedlings, dry seedlings and fertile land are suitable for sparser planting. Otherwise, denser planting is suitable. Generally, 7,000-9,000 plants are planted per mu. After the ridges are made, plant 5 cm inward from the ridge edge, with a plant spacing of 12-15 cm. The ridge length generally does not exceed 30 m. When transplanting, note the following: First, directional transplanting: the arched back faces outward, which helps the inflorescence to emerge later. Second, plant in a double-row triangle (pin-shaped) arrangement, which helps ventilation, light penetration and rooting. Third, grasp the depth, so that the roots are not exposed below and the seedling heart is not buried above, which helps tillering. Fourth, transplant with soil, which helps survival. Fifth, plant in the afternoon on sunny days and all day on cloudy days. Sixth, strengthen water and fertilizer management; after planting, immediately water thoroughly to settle the roots, and when watering, add thiophanate-methyl at 800 times dilution. Seventh, promptly check for missing seedlings and replant them.
III. Field management. 1. Pre-winter management: after planting and survival until mid-to-late November, three points should be noted: first, apply thin fertilizer frequently, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, preferably dilute manure water; second, keep it moist; third, weed, loosen the soil and remove old leaves and diseased leaves. 2. Management before and after flowering: before flowering, at the young fruit stage and at the fruit expansion stage, promptly spray Caiguo Zhuangdiling to increase the strawberry's cyclic fruit-setting rate and promote fruit development, and at the same time use thiophanate-methyl, procymidone, dimethoate, etc. to control diseases and pests. 3. Overwintering management: before the severe cold comes, water thoroughly to protect against cold.
IV. Timely film covering. Film covering can multiply yield and reduce fruit loss and prevent contamination. Films are divided into greenhouse film and plastic mulch. The time for covering film should be when the average daily temperature drops to about 8°C, and then begin covering. Cover the greenhouse film first, then the plastic mulch. Before covering the film, first weed, cultivate and fertilize, and control diseases and pests. (For greenhouse construction and film purchase models, due to limited space, no introduction will be given; those interested please contact the agricultural science institute.) After covering the film, at night the temperature inside the greenhouse should be maintained at 8°C, and around 20°C during the day. On sunny days at noon, the film should be lifted, and re-covered at 3 p.m. If the temperature is too high, the pollen dies; if the temperature is too low, the pollen activity is insufficient and pollination is difficult.
V. Greenhouse cultivation. Strawberries grown in greenhouses in early spring can flower and bear fruit.

Open-field cultivation techniques
Open-field strawberry cultivation can adopt two methods: planting once a year or planting once for many years. The former rotates with other crops after each year's cultivation and harvest. Under this system, strawberries have strong vitality, good fruit quality, early ripening and few diseases and pests. However, the key technique is to cultivate strong seedlings with more than 3 leaves and a well-developed root system, and appropriate close planting can be used. Plant once, harvest for many years, transplant in autumn, and harvest in May of the following year. After 3 years, renew once using runner seedlings.
1. Land preparation and base fertilizer application. Strawberries have shallow roots and are suitable for growing in loam or sandy loam with good permeability and rich organic matter. The previous crop is preferably wheat, beans, melons or vegetables. They can also be intercropped with tall-stem crops. Deep-plow the land early, apply 3000 kg of fully decomposed manure as base fertilizer per mu, and sun the soil. When preparing the land, apply 25 kg of diammonium phosphate and 10 kg of potassium chloride. Irrigate once with a small amount of water before planting.
2. Planting. Before transplanting, select seedlings with 5-6 compound leaves, vigorous plants and intact root systems, and plant them in the field on cloudy days or in the evening. The planting density is (20-25) cm x (25-30) cm. When planting seedlings, the standard is shallow enough not to expose the roots and deep enough not to bury the heart. After planting, immediately irrigate thoroughly once; after the water dries, promptly check the condition of the seedlings, loosen the soil, earth up or replant missing seedlings. When planting, make the arched back of the seedling grow toward the inside of the flat bed, which facilitates management and fruit harvesting.
3. Field management. After strawberry planting, water to settle the roots, then keep the field moist, lower the soil temperature, and irrigate timely and appropriately according to field humidity. When irrigating with overwintering water, apply 15-20 kg/mu of compound fertilizer to improve overwintering ability. The spring flowering and fruiting period is a water-sensitive period, and the soil should be kept moist. When irrigating, apply nitrogen-phosphorus compound fertilizer or foliar fertilizer. Do not use too much water, and promptly drain accumulated water. At the same time, before flowering, at the young fruit stage and at the fruit expansion stage, promptly spray Caiguo Zhuangdiling to increase the strawberry's cyclic fruit-setting rate and promote fruit development. After strawberry transplanting and survival, cultivate frequently and weed. After fruit harvest, earth up at the appropriate time. During overwintering, appropriately use ground cover to protect against cold, keep warm and help strawberries overwinter smoothly. Now, plastic mulching is mostly done from the end of January to the beginning of February, which can promote earlier ripening of strawberries and extend the harvest period.
Growth conditions
Strawberries are suitable for planting in soil with plenty of sunlight and good drainage. The soil depth should be about 8-10 inches.
For large strawberry plants, the row spacing should be 12 inches and the plant spacing about 18 inches. Promptly remove the runners from the plants to favor fruiting. Strawberry yields are cyclical, so it is best to cultivate some new plants in the first few years of planting.

If you do not like managing strawberries, you can plant one strawberry every 18-24 inches, and the strawberries will then spread freely. Of course, it will look a bit messy, and the strawberries will not be very large. If you want to avoid this situation, you can remove some of the runners as appropriate.

Cultivation and weeding in field management

This is an important technical measure to ensure high yield and high quality of strawberries. The depth of cultivation is generally 3-4 cm, and the number of times and timing depend on actual conditions. In recent years, many production areas have used black plastic film mulching to control weed growth and also eliminate the need for cultivation, which is worth promoting and applying. Fertilization: Apply 1-2 topdressings of compound fertilizer at the flowering and fruit-setting stages; orchards covered with film use foliar topdressing. A large number of experiments have proved that applying trace elements B, Ca, Mg, Mo, etc. at the flowering and fruit-setting stages helps enhance plant resistance and significantly improves strawberry yield and quality. Timely application of GA can also reduce the formation of deformed fruits. Irrigation: Strawberries are berry plants that require more water, and the soil should be kept moist throughout the growing period. In South China, autumn and winter are dry, so irrigation should be done timely, in small amounts and many times, preferably by drip irrigation.

Planting techniques
In South China, it is best to plant in mid-to-late October. At this time the temperature is 25-30°C, and transplanted seedlings survive quickly, but this period is also the autumn drought, so attention should be paid to irrigation; in this way, transplanted seedlings can basically achieve a survival rate of more than 90%. Rectangular planting is mostly used, with a plant-row spacing of 10-15 cm x 25 cm, and about 10,000 plants are planted per 666.7 square meters. Attention should be paid to directional planting: well-grown plants all have a curved rhizome, and the curved convex side should face the side of the ridge furrow. Planting in this way can ensure that strawberries set fruit on the side slope of the ridge, which facilitates fruit padding and harvesting. Planting depth is also key to strawberry survival, and the standard of "deep enough not to bury the heart, shallow enough not to expose the roots" should be grasped. If planted too deep, the seedling heart is buried by soil and the seedling is prone to rot; if planted too shallow, the seedling roots are exposed, new roots are not easily produced, and the seedling is prone to drying out and dying. Immediately after planting, irrigate thoroughly once.

The three-year cycle of growing strawberries
Strawberry cultivation has a three-year cycle. In the first year only very few strawberries can be harvested, in the second year many are harvested, but by the third year or after three years, strawberry yield will decline markedly and the plants need to be replaced. Therefore, reasonably arranging the cultivation of new plants and ensuring that some strawberries are second-year plants every year can obtain the greatest economic benefit.
When strawberries grow well, they produce a kind of runner, and at the end of the runner new small plants are produced. When the small plants grow to 3-4 leaves, they can be cut off and planted in another flowerpot, taking care to water. It is best not to let first-year new plants bear strawberries, and only let them grow more leaves. Therefore, when you find that a one-year-old strawberry has bloomed, remove the flowers. At the same time, do not forget to hang a small tag on the plant with the planting date of the new plant written on it, so as not to forget later. Remove other excess runners from the new plants. If the strawberries are planted in the yard soil, also pay attention to weeding. When watering, be careful not to wet the strawberries, because once strawberries are splashed wet with water, they are prone to rot.

Strawberry care

Once strawberries begin to set fruit and turn red, be careful not to let birds peck at them, because birds easily notice red things. Put a net over the strawberries, or cover the strawberries with a wooden basket. But if there is a greenhouse at home, it is even better to move the strawberries into the greenhouse. Strawberries also bear fruit more easily. After the strawberry fruiting period is over, they can be moved out of the greenhouse and placed outdoors to overwinter. In a way, if the strawberry plants experience some frost, it is more favorable for increasing yield the following year.
Strawberries are very easy plants to cultivate and can be transplanted. Sometimes you may find yellow leaves on the plants, but do not worry; just remove them. In winter, you can keep the yellow leaves until new leaves grow the following spring, then remove the dead yellow leaves, and pay attention to watering, weeding and pest control.
Strawberries can also be planted in plant bags, but watering must be even, and birds must be prevented from pecking the strawberries and insect pests must be prevented. The soil in plant bags dries out easily, so it needs to be checked frequently to ensure the soil remains moist.
★If planting on a small scale, try not to use pesticides; you can spray with a large amount of diluted dishwashing detergent; you can also place some melon peels, beer, etc. nearby to lure away snails and other mollusk pests.

Strawberry disease control: main diseases
During the seedling cultivation period and transplanting period of strawberries, powdery mildew, gray mold and anthracnose occur most commonly. If control is not timely, sometimes all strawberry seedlings are destroyed.
I. Strawberry powdery mildew
The pathogen belongs to the genus Sphaerotheca, spreads by air currents or rainwater, and the optimum temperature for onset is 25-30°C. The pathogen can infect many crops, and triazolone-type pesticides have generally developed resistance to it. It is prone to occur at the fruit-setting stage and late harvest stage. The key prevention period for open-field cultivation is the flower stem emergence stage before flowering. Preventive medication: Baitai 1500 times or 25% Shibaike 1000-1500 times, Longkejun 500-600 times plus Xinguozhimu spray, forming a protective film to prevent the pathogen from spreading through rainwater, once every 7-10 days.
For small-arch-shed cultivation, the prevention period is around December and around May of the following year. For prevention and control at the early stage of onset: Wuyi mycin 1000 times, Cuibei 3000 times, 50% Shibaigong 1000-1500 times, Kaize 2000 times mixed with Chengbiao 500 times, Longkejun 500-600 times.
Note that pesticides should be used in rotation, and the same pesticide variety should not be used continuously more than 2 times.

II. Strawberry gray mold
The disease is most likely to occur under humid conditions and at around 25°C. It is most serious at the fruit-setting stage and late harvest stage.
Prevention should be the main approach. The best time for medication is when more than 20% of the first inflorescence of strawberries has bloomed and when the second inflorescence has just bloomed. Pesticide selection: Kaize 1200 times or Nongliling 1000 times or 50% Shibaigong 1000-1500 times, Longkejun 500-600 times, applied twice in succession with alternating medication. When the disease is severe, choose Kaize 1200 times plus Baitai 1500 times, or Kaize 1200 times, 50% Shibaigong 1000-1500 times, Longkejun 500-600 times, mixed and used immediately; the effect is better.

Disease control
When growing strawberries, change or control the environmental conditions of their growth and development, overcome unfavorable factors, make them flower and bear fruit normally, achieve early harvest and off-season supply to the market. Greenhouse cultivation has the characteristics of low investment, quick results, high yield and good returns. Each mu of land produces 1500 kg, more than double that of open-field cultivation; the output value is more than 10 times higher than open-field cultivation. In order to extend the strawberry supply period and meet the demand for year-round supply, four cultivation forms are currently commonly used: (1) forcing cultivation (mature and marketed from November to December in late autumn and early winter); (2) semi-forcing cultivation (mature and marketed from February to March); (3) super-forcing cultivation; (4) inhibitory cultivation.
Although greenhouse production has many advantages, it also has shortcomings, because the greenhouse is hot and humid. It easily creates extremely favorable environmental conditions for the occurrence of diseases and pests. Strengthening integrated pest and disease control, "control early, control small, control thoroughly," is particularly important and has become a key link in achieving high and stable yields of greenhouse strawberries.
Leaf spot disease:
Also called snake-eye disease, it mainly damages leaves, petioles, fruit stalks, young stems and seeds. Dark purple small spots form on the leaves, and after expanding they form nearly round or oval lesions, with purple-red-brown edges and gray-white centers, with slight concentric rings, making the entire lesion appear snake-eye shaped. No small black granules form on the lesions.
Control measures: Promptly remove diseased leaves and old leaves. At the early stage of onset, use 70% chlorothalonil wettable powder 500-700 times solution, and spray again after ten days. Or use 70% mancozeb wettable powder, 200 g per mu mixed with 75 kg of water for spraying.

Powdery mildew:
It mainly damages leaves, and also attacks flowers, fruits, fruit stalks and petioles. Leaves curl upward in a spoon shape. Damaged flower buds and petals turn purple-red, cannot bloom or bloom as complete flowers, and the fruit does not expand and is slender; young fruit loses luster and hardens. Near-ripe strawberries that are damaged lose their commercial value.
Control measures: On the central diseased plants and around them, focus on spraying 0.3 degree Baume lime-sulfur mixture. After harvest, cut all leaves in the whole orchard, and spray 70% thiophanate-methyl 1000 times solution or 50% Tuzet 800 times solution and 30% triflumizole 5000 times solution, etc.

Gray mold:
It is the main disease after flowering, and can occur on flowers, petals, fruits and leaves. On fruits at the expansion stage, brown spots form, gradually expand, and dense gray mold grows, causing the fruit to soften and rot, seriously affecting yield.
Control measures: From the bud stage to the flowering stage, spray 25% carbendazim wettable powder 300 times solution, 50% captan wettable powder 800 times solution, 50% iprodione 500-700 times solution, etc.
Root rot:
It starts from the lower leaves, the leaf edges turn red-brown, gradually wilt upward, and eventually the plant dies. The support in the middle begins to turn black-brown and rot, and the central column of the root is red. Control measures:
Before strawberry transplanting, use 40% asparagus green powder 600 times solution, pour it on the bed surface, then cover with soil, level and transplant, so as to effectively kill pathogens in the soil, lower the base number of inoculum in the field and reduce the chance of infection.

The flower language of strawberries
A love with courage
People who like this flower or are blessed by this flower: they will more or less have a tendency not to dare to express love in words. However, this is also because of purity. As long as you overcome the fear of love in your heart and are not afraid of the gaze of those around you, your heart will receive the joy of love. If you can meet someone you sincerely like, you might as well shed your timidity. Bravely express your love. Only then will it bring you the person you like, and you will not regret it.

The flesh is purple-red, moderately sweet and sour, and the soluble solids reach 17%, with a yield of 2000 kg per mu, suitable for development in the Yellow River basin. Development status and market prospects. Although the cultivation history of figs is long, systematic research work on cultivation theory and technology started relatively late. China began research work on figs in the 1980s. With the progress of research work by scientists in various countries, especially the gradual understanding of the medicinal and health value of figs, people have gained a new understanding of the economic value of figs. Since the 1990s, the effects of figs in health care and cancer treatment have received increasing attention. Its fruit can not only be used fresh for health care, but can also be processed into various health drinks, and cancer-treating substances can also be extracted. At present, world fig output is about 2.5 million tons, about 0.04 kg per capita. In China, most are scattered plantings. At present, there are about 3000 hectares of contiguous orchards nationwide, and most are in new areas, with output of less than 30,000 tons. Therefore, figs have broad market prospects. The regions in China where fig planting and processing are relatively developed are **, Jiangsu and Shandong, and ** Atushi is known as China's "hometown of figs." Some places in our province have successively carried out fig planting and processing in recent years and achieved relatively good economic benefits. For example, a planting base has been established in Xinxiang, and Zhengzhou also has a processing enterprise - Zhengzhou Tianfu Fig Products Co., Ltd., whose products include: whole-juice fermented fig wine, Shaolin Sacred Fruit tea, export-grade peeled dried figs, preserved figs, fig jam, canned figs, fig juice, quick-frozen figs, etc., which has strongly driven the development of fig production in surrounding areas. The price of fig processed products is not low. Domestically, preserved figs and dried figs generally sell for 70 yuan per bag; in the international market, China's preserved figs, canned figs, fig juice, leaf powder and other products have gradually become hot-selling items internationally, exported to Japan, Macao, China and other countries and regions, realizing foreign exchange earnings from fig product exports. With China's accession to the WTO, the further development of fine-processing technology and the optimization and adjustment of China's rural industrial structure, figs, as a high-quality, high-yield and high-efficiency foreign-exchange fruit, will develop rapidly and play a huge role in helping farmers escape poverty and become rich. Planting excellent fig varieties has high benefits, quick results, and few diseases and pests. Pesticides are basically not applied during the growing period, and they are salt-alkali resistant, easy to cultivate, and have excellent fruit processing quality. Field planting is generally 80-120 plants per mu, and Brunswick is the best variety. In the year of planting, about 200 kg of fresh fruit can be harvested; in the second year, 400-500 kg of fresh fruit per mu; in the third year, more than 750 kg of fresh fruit per mu; and in the fourth year, it can reach 1500 kg. Orchards with trees more than 5 years old can yield 2000-2500 kg of fresh fruit per mu, with income of more than 2000 yuan per mu, twice the benefit of growing grain crops. In the first 3 years after orchard establishment, economic crops such as melons, vegetables and strawberries can also be intercropped between the fruit rows to obtain higher economic benefits. The medicinal functions of figs. Fig is a plant used both as fruit and medicine. Its fruit is rich in trace elements such as Se, Ca, Mg, Zn, Mn and Cu, and contains 10 kinds of amino acids essential to the human body, especially the anti-fatigue aspartic acid content reaching 0.475%-0.493%; its vitamin C content ranks first among all kinds of fruits. According to pharmacological studies, figs can lower blood pressure, delay aging, increase hemoglobin, eliminate body fatigue, improve immunity, and have obvious anti-cancer effects. Domestic and foreign studies show that figs contain a variety of anti-cancer active substances, have an obvious inhibitory effect on cancer cell growth, and have no side effects. According to cooperative research by Nanjing Agricultural University and Jiangsu Provincial Tumor Hospital, the inhibition rate of fig extract on different cancers reaches 40%-50%, higher than ginseng's 17% and royal jelly's 15%, and better than the currently world-recognized asparagus effect. The anti-cancer mechanism of figs has been recognized worldwide, and in-depth research and application trials have begun. Dr. Mutsumi Azuma of Chiba Prefecture, Japan, used fig extract - BG liquid - for intravenous drip in 65 cancer patients and has successively cured many late-stage cancer patients. The fact that ** Uyghurs who often eat figs have longevity and a very low cancer incidence also proves this point. Figs are also a selenium-rich fruit tree. Its fruit selenium content is 54.7 ng/mg, and leaf selenium content is 189.3 ng/mg. It is the newly discovered selenium-concentrating fruit tree, and its selenium content is 100 times that of edible fungi and 400 times that of garlic. Selenium is praised by nutritionists as the "wonderful element of life," and has the special functions of delaying aging, enhancing body immunity and resisting disease. Selenium is also a protective agent in the human body against toxic substances and can reduce the harm of toxic substances. Research has proved that in people suffering from cancer, AIDS, hepatitis, asthma, coronary heart disease, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral thrombosis, Keshan disease, Kashin-Beck disease, cataracts and other diseases, and in people with reduced reproductive ability, selenium in serum and hair is lower than in normal people. Therefore, figs are praised as the "queen of fruits" and the "guardian deity of human health in the 21st century." (Reporter: Anonymous)
