[Symptoms] In the early stage of the disease, water-soaked necrotic spots appear on the leaves of pothos, and the lesions gradually turn dark brown. The lesions often bear concentric rings, with yellow edges. Once pothos is infected with bacterial leaf spot, its ornamental value is greatly reduced. [Pathogen and Disease Pattern] It is a bacterial disease, and the pathogen is Pseudomonas cichorii. The bacteria mostly survive in the soil and generally spread through splashing during watering and friction between diseased and healthy leaves. The disease mostly occurs during low-temperature periods.

[Control Methods]

1. Remove diseased leaves promptly when found and burn them in a centralized manner.

2. Chemical control: You can choose 4% copper amine complex aqueous solution at 350 times dilution, 60% fosetyl-aluminum wettable powder at 600 times dilution, 77% Kocide wettable powder at 500 times dilution, or 72% agricultural streptomycin wettable powder at 4000 times dilution, and spray on the leaf surface. For household control, a 0.1% potassium permanganate solution can also be sprayed.

Control of Bacterial Leaf Spot in Pothos

Bacterial leaf spot of pothos is one of the common diseases of pothos. It mainly damages pothos leaves and affects their ornamental value.

Symptoms:
Bacterial leaf spot first appears on leaves as water-soaked necrotic spots, then quickly turns dark brown. The lesions bear alternating light and dark concentric rings, with a yellow halo on the outer edge.

Pathogen
The pathogen of bacterial leaf spot in pothos is Pseudomonas cichorii (Swinhle) Stapp, called Pseudomonas cichorii, which belongs to bacteria. The bacterial cells are rod-shaped and have multiple polar flagella.

Transmission route:
The pathogen of bacterial leaf spot in pothos survives in the soil and is mainly transmitted through water droplet splashing or friction between leaves. The pathogen invades through wounds or water pores. The suitable temperature for disease onset is 17~23 degrees, and in production the disease mostly occurs during low-temperature periods.

Control:
   1. In the early stage of the disease, promptly cut off the lesions or remove the diseased leaves.
   2. For mature plants, start spraying 14% copper amine complex aqueous solution at 350 times dilution in the early stage of the disease, once every 7~10 days, for 2~3 consecutive treatments.
