Pest and disease control is a problem often encountered in the process of strawberry cultivation. What are the common pests and diseases of strawberries? What methods and pesticides can control these pests and diseases? Let's take a look below.

Main insect pests:Red spider mites, aphids, white grubs, cutworms, etc.;

Main diseases:Gray mold, powdery mildew, bud blight.

1. Gray mold: an important disease in spring.

Control measures: (1) Remove diseased fruit, diseased flower clusters, and withered, old, and diseased leaves at any time, and destroy them in a centralized manner. (2) During the greenhouse covering period, uncover the film in a timely manner to reduce humidity, clear the ditch system, and drain water promptly after rain. (3) Before covering with plastic mulch and before and after covering the greenhouse, spray once every half month or so with 50% thiophanate wettable powder at 700-800 times dilution, or 50% carbendazim wettable powder at 1000 times dilution, or 50% procymidone at 2000 times dilution.

2. Powdery mildew

Control method: In the early stage of disease occurrence, use 25% diniconazole wettable powder at 2000-3000 times dilution, or 70% thiophanate-methyl at 700 times dilution, or 50% thiram at 800 times dilution, and promptly remove early diseased fruit and destroy it in a centralized manner.

3. Red spider mites

Control method: 20% fenpropathrin at 2000 times dilution, 10% synergized fenvalerate at 1000 times dilution.

4. Aphids

Density is highest in early summer and early autumn. Aphids can transmit strawberry viruses, leading to a major outbreak of viral diseases. Spray for control with 50% pirimicarb wettable powder at 2000-3000 times dilution, or 50% pirimicarb at 3000 times dilution, and other pesticides.

  • Special reminder

It is strictly prohibited to use highly toxic pesticides such as carbofuran, methamidophos, monocrotophos, DDT, 666, 1605, 1059, and 401 on strawberries; give priority to biological pesticides, use highly efficient, low-toxicity, low-residue chemical pesticides scientifically, pay attention to the safety interval between pesticide application and harvest, and produce high-quality pollution-free strawberries.
