June's warm climate and abundant sunshine make it the peak growing season for "summer-growing" succulents, and most varieties, especially cacti, bloom this month. The growth of "winter-growing" types comes to a complete halt; "intermediate" types that grow in spring and autumn can continue growing in the first and middle ten days of this month in the cooler northern regions, but basically enter dormancy in the last ten days, while in southern regions growth basically stops due to the hot climate. In particular, in the last ten days of this month, the southern regions of our country enter the hot, stuffy, and humid plum rain season, and this climate is extremely unfavorable for the growth of succulents, so care must be taken with extra caution.

1. Watering

For "summer-growing" types that are actively growing, water thoroughly, but do not let water accumulate. Although succulents in their growing period are drought-tolerant, they do not like drought. If water is lacking for a long time during the growing season, the plant will not die, but its growth will be extremely slow or even stop, and its appearance will also be poor. Therefore, when watering during growth, early morning is best, and evening is also acceptable, but avoid watering during the high temperatures at noon.

For "intermediate" varieties, because their growth is slow, they need little water, so just keep the potting soil slightly moist.

For "winter-growing" succulents, because growth has completely stopped, watering must be strictly controlled. For extremely fleshy succulents of the Aizoaceae family such as Dinteranthus and Lithops, watering must be completely stopped, and they must not be exposed to rain, otherwise they will easily rot.

2. Fertilizing

"Summer-growing" types in their growing period can be fertilized according to the different varieties; "winter-growing" and "intermediate" types should stop being fertilized.

3. Light and Ventilation

"Summer-growing" types can be placed outdoors in a sunny, well-ventilated spot for care. In particular, varieties with brightly colored leaves such as Fire Dragon must have sufficient light; if light is insufficient, their leaf color will change from bright red to green, affecting their ornamental value.

"Winter-growing" and "intermediate" types can be placed in a bright spot without direct sunlight for care. No matter which type of succulent, good ventilation is required. If poor ventilation causes stuffiness and humidity, the plant will easily rot; while stuffiness and dryness will lead to red spider mite damage, causing the plant's epidermis to turn brown.

4. Other

Succulents that are blooming can be hand-pollinated to breed hybrid varieties.

Some seedlings sown in spring have already grown to the size of a soybean and can be transplanted and divided.

In addition, this month grafting, layering, and cuttings can also be done. Succulents can be propagated by leaf cuttings and stem cuttings, and a few varieties can also be propagated by root cuttings.
