With the advancement of oral medical technology, dental implant technology has also been greatly improved. But no matter what kind of surgery it is, there are certain risks, and dental implants are no exception. So, dental implants may cause some complications.
Complications of dental implants:
1. Wound dehiscence:
If the sutures are too tight or too loose, especially in cases where infection is induced, it is even more likely to cause local wound dehiscence at the dental implant site. Debridement should be performed promptly, and the wound should be sutured again to avoid implant loss.

2. Bleeding:
Because of extensive damage from mucoperiosteal stripping or wide subgingival stripping, especially when postoperative care is poor, submucosal or subcutaneous bleeding is likely to occur. If the implant penetrates the lower border of the mandible during the first-stage surgery, submental bruising can also occur. Local bruising can generally be absorbed after a few days. Cold compresses can be used early after surgery, and hot compresses later. For patients with a bleeding tendency due to certain factors, symptomatic treatment should be given.
3. Lower lip:
It is mostly caused by injury to the mental nerve during intraoperative stripping or by direct trauma during implant placement. The former can often recover, while for the latter, the implant should be removed, and a new site should be selected for implantation away from the nerve.

4. Sinus mucosal perforation:
During maxillary implantation, due to insufficient bone volume, it is easy to perforate the maxillary sinus or the mucosa of the nasal floor, which will inevitably cause infection around the implant, so it should be removed promptly.
