What is most profitable to plant in 2018? Planting references for farmers in different regions
The Ministry of Agriculture issued the national planting structure adjustment plan, making a general planning adjustment for China's planting industry to help farmers get rich quickly. So what should farmers in different regions plant in 2018 to make money? Let's take a look below.
Northeast China
Highlight the four key points of "stabilize, reduce, expand, build," namely stabilizing the rice area, reducing the corn area, expanding the planting of soybeans, miscellaneous grains, potatoes, and forage crops, and building a reasonable crop rotation system. Stabilize the rice area in advantageous production areas such as the Sanjiang Plain and the Songnen Plain. Reduce the corn planting area in the fourth and fifth accumulated temperature zones such as northern Heilongjiang and Hulunbuir in Inner Mongolia, as well as in the farming-pastoral ecotone. Replace the reduced corn area with crops such as soybeans, spring wheat, miscellaneous grains and beans, and silage corn, and build a reasonable crop rotation system.
Huang-Huai-Hai Region
Put stability first, combine reduction with preservation, and coordinate grain, cash crops, and feed. The focus is to stabilize the wheat area, improve the one-year two-crop planting models of wheat/corn and wheat/soybean (peanut), manage crop rotation connections well, vigorously develop high-quality strong-gluten wheat, stabilize the vegetable area, and expand the silage corn area.
On the premise of steadily increasing grain production capacity, moderately reduce the wheat planting area in areas of North China with severe groundwater overexploitation, switch to drought- and salt-tolerant crops such as cotton and oil sunflower, and expand the planting of drought-tolerant crops such as potatoes and alfalfa. Keep the cotton area stable in coastal saline-alkali land and tidal flat land. Coordinate the production of grain, cotton, oil crops, vegetables, and feed, and appropriately expand the planting of peanuts, soybeans, and forage.
Middle and Lower Reaches of the Yangtze River
"Two stabilizations and one improvement," namely stabilizing the double-cropping rice area, stabilizing the rapeseed area, and improving quality. Breed and promote high-quality indica rice and japonica rice varieties with a moderate growth period, high yield, and good quality, assemble supporting technical models, and arrange crop rotation reasonably. Breed and promote special high-yield, high-quality weak-gluten wheat varieties, integrate supporting high-yield and high-efficiency technical models, expand the planting of high-quality weak-gluten wheat according to local conditions, and increase market supply.
Promote "double-low" rapeseed to improve rapeseed quality. In addition, develop and utilize coastal, riverside, and lakeside saline-alkali tidal flat resources to plant cotton, and develop winter fallow fields to expand the planting of forage crops such as ryegrass.
Northwest China
Stabilize summer crops and optimize autumn crops, stabilize cotton and ensure supply, and increase efficiency through distinctive crops. With the promotion of film mulching technology as the carrier, follow the timing of nature and seek advantages while avoiding disadvantages, stabilize summer-ripening crops such as wheat, actively develop potatoes, spring wheat, miscellaneous grains and beans, and develop forage crops such as silage corn, alfalfa, forage rapeseed, and forage oats according to local conditions.
Advance large-scale cotton planting, standardized production, and mechanized operations to improve production levels and efficiency. Actively develop distinctive miscellaneous grains and beans, expand the planting of distinctive oil crops, increase market supply, and promote farmers' income growth. Make full use of the advantages of light and heat resources in Northwest China, strengthen the construction of seed production bases for corn, vegetables, virus-free potatoes, alfalfa, and others to meet the need for seeds in production.
South China
"Two stabilizations and one expansion," namely stabilizing the rice area, stabilizing the sugar crop area, and expanding the winter planting area. Stabilize the double-cropping rice area, breed and promote high-quality indica rice, and focus on improving rice quality. Make full use of winter light and temperature resources, develop winter fallow fields, expand winter planting of potatoes, corn, broad beans and peas, green manure, and forage crops, strengthen the infrastructure construction of bases for transporting southern vegetables to the north, achieve off-season listing and balanced supply, and increase farmers' income.
Southwest China
Stabilize grain and expand cash crops, increase feed and promote livestock, use intercropping and multiple cropping, and increase production and income. Promote simplified cultivation and small machinery according to local conditions, stabilize rice and wheat production, develop ratoon rice, stabilize the highland barley area in Tibetan areas, and expand the planting of potatoes and miscellaneous grains and beans. Promote techniques such as rapeseed seedling raising and transplanting and mechanical direct seeding, and expand high-quality rapeseed production. Implement the conversion of cropland to forest and grassland on cultivated land with a slope above 25°, reduce the corn area in non-advantageous areas of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, switch to high-quality forage, and develop herbivorous livestock farming.
Intercropping and multiple cropping, increasing production and income. Give play to the advantages of abundant light and heat resources, diverse production types, and flexible planting models, promote ecological compound planting such as corn/soybean, corn/potato, and corn/sweet potato intercropping, rationally use cultivated land resources, improve land output rate, and achieve increased production and income.
In addition, farmers who plant the following crops can also receive considerable subsidies:
Soybean
Grain-soybean rotation, restoring area, improving quality, and increasing efficiency. Promote the corn-soybean rotation model in Northeast China, promote corn-soybean rotation, one-year two-crop wheat-soybean, or corn-soybean intercropping in the Huang-Huai-Hai region, and appropriately restore the soybean planting area. By 2020, the soybean area will reach 140 million mu, an increase of about 40 million mu. Potatoes and miscellaneous grains: expand area, optimize structure, transform through processing, improve quality, and increase efficiency.
Rice
Consolidate the northern japonica rice production area and stabilize double-cropping rice production in the south. By 2020, the proportion of high-quality rice will reach 80%, and the breeding of new high-yield, high-quality, and highly resistant hybrid rice varieties will be accelerated. At the same time, accelerate the purification and rejuvenation of conventional rice varieties to improve planting efficiency.
Wheat
In cold and cool areas of Northeast China, the Hetao area of Inner Mongolia, and northern areas of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang, appropriately restore spring wheat, vigorously develop high-quality strong-gluten wheat in short supply on the market for processing bread and high-quality weak-gluten wheat for processing biscuits and cakes, and drive quality improvement of medium-gluten or medium-strong-gluten wheat used for processing steamed buns and noodles.High-quality wheat used for making bread and cakes is relatively in short supply.Reduce grain corn, expand silage corn, and appropriately develop fresh-eating corn.By 2020, the silage corn area will reach 25 million mu, and the fresh-eating corn area will reach 15 million mu.
