Exocarpium Citri Grandis has always been "hard to find even one fruit" due to its special cough-relieving and phlegm-dispelling effects. In 2013, Guangdong's authentic medicinal Exocarpium Citri Grandis was listed in the United States Pharmacopeia. Facing international demand, the shortage of Exocarpium Citri Grandis has grown larger and larger.

Guangxi's climate is similar to Guangdong's. Since 2012, cities and counties in Guangxi including Luchuan, Nanning, Chongzuo, Guigang, Baise, Hechi, and Laibin have successively developed Exocarpium Citri Grandis cultivation. Up to now, the planting area has surpassed Guangdong, making it the province with the most Exocarpium Citri Grandis cultivation and a new agricultural planting project that helps farmers increase income.

As one of the national hundred-farmer professional cooperative demonstration cooperatives, "Huazhou City Yili Huajuhong Professional Cooperative" began developing Exocarpium Citri Grandis cultivation in Guangxi in 2012. It has now established Exocarpium Citri Grandis bases of about 12,000 mu in Nanning, Chongzuo, Baise, and other places. Yao Feilong, deputy head of the cooperative and manager of Guangxi Rongyuan Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., told reporters: "Exocarpium Citri Grandis generally begins producing fruit after 3 years of planting, with an average yield of 750 kg per mu and income of 18,000 yuan. In the first two years, according to market demand and environmental characteristics, Chinese medicinal herbs such as Yizhiren, Shegan, Chunsharen, Baibu, and Tiandong can be planted to increase farmers' income."
