How to Grow Perilla to Increase Yield

Perilla, also known as red perilla, red perilla, black perilla, red perilla, wrinkled perilla, etc. Perilla is the tender leafy shoot of the plant Perilla in the Lamiaceae family, Perilla genus. Its stems, leaves and seeds are used as medicine. Perilla is a comprehensive cross-category commodity that can be used as medicine; it is a commonly used clinical drug and can also be eaten. Perilla sprouts have a special fragrant aroma and are a very popular sprout vegetable across the vast regions of northern and southern China, as well as a specialty variety exported to Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, China and other regions. Perilla sprouts are rich in vitamin C, potassium, iron, etc., and also contain abundant unsaturated fatty acids, which can improve human immunity, have the effect of alleviating allergic reactions such as allergic dermatitis and hay fever, and have a certain inhibitory effect on influenza viruses.

At present, perilla is generally grown in open fields or greenhouses using conventional methods, that is, after seedling raising and transplanting, fertilizer and water management are carried out by conventional methods. These methods do not reasonably configure nutrient elements according to the growth characteristics of perilla, resulting in low yield and poor quality of perilla, and the survival rate of the planted seedlings is not very high, and they are susceptible to pest damage. In the prior art, the use of compound fertilizers to meet the nutrients required during the growth of perilla has also begun to be advocated, but there is rarely any disclosure regarding perilla microbial compound bacterial fertilizer.

1、When planting, choose sandy loam soil that is convenient for irrigation and drainage, loose and fertile, and deep-plow the land; apply 2500 kg of farmyard manure and 200 kg of microbial bacterial fertilizer per mu, wherein the biological bacterial fertilizer is made from the following components, in parts by weight: 50-80 parts leaf mold, 40-90 parts plant ash, 10-20 parts urea, 5-10 parts ammonium sulfate, 2-5 parts potassium dihydrogen phosphate, 5-10 parts manure, 0.05-0.2 parts compound microbial agent and 1-10 parts superphosphate. Then plow 15-20 cm deep and harrow level, making beds 90-100 cm wide; then select plump perilla seeds and disinfect them for 10 hours; on the prepared bed surface, open shallow holes 0.8-1 cm deep with a row spacing of 45-55 cm, and for hole sowing open holes at a hole spacing of 30 cm x 50 cm; mix the seeds with fine soil, evenly scatter them into the holes, cover with thin soil, water, and seedlings emerge 6 days after sowing.

2. When the seedlings are 12 cm tall, thin to final spacing at a plant spacing of 25-30 cm and a row spacing of 45-50 cm, leaving 2 plants per hole. After the seedlings are 30 cm tall, weed regularly to ensure no weeds in the field, and at the same time apply topdressing, applying 1000 kg of human and livestock manure per mu, together with 15-20 kg of urea and 8 kg of superphosphate; water when the land is dry, and pay attention to drainage during the rainy season. Finally, during the growth process, pay attention to the prevention and control of pests and diseases, and take corresponding measures in time.

The perilla grown in the examples had a pest and disease incidence rate of less than 5%; the yield per mu increased by 15-20% compared with the yield grown by the prior art planting method.
