As midsummer arrives, farmers have already entered a state of readiness in advance (the picking season is here). Some are happy, some are worried.

A bountiful harvest brings joy but also troubles. The real difficulty facing them is selling the black goji berries. Many first-year growers have no smile on their faces at all. Many people called me to ask: why did the goji plants that were growing perfectly well suddenly die? Many of them sent me pictures, and I will analyze them for everyone based on the pictures.

1. This disease mostly occurs on seedlings of the current year due to alkaline water corrosion (old trees have thick bark). It breaks out during the flowering and fruiting period, and the cause is that nutrition cannot keep up.

2. As shown in the fourth picture above, at the place where the root and stem meet, the bark rots, causing nutrients to be unable to travel upward, so flowers and fruits drop! Look at its roots - they are fine (if new branches do not emerge later, photosynthesis cannot take place, excess water in the roots cannot evaporate, and later it becomes root rot).

3. Look at the first picture: the main trunk is severely wrapped by soil with no air permeability.

  1. 4. Look at the second and third pictures: only one branch has died, while the young branches are still alive! In other words, the dried-up main trunk has developed stem rot!

5. Prevention method: remove excess soil from the main trunk of the goji plant to increase air permeability.
