Immediate implant teeth have been hyped up a lot in recent years. Many people go to the hospital specifically asking for immediate implant teeth, and are even willing to pay extra for them.

So in a dentist's eyes, what kind of thing are immediate implant teeth?

To be honest, we do not always recommend immediate implant teeth to patients.

Even though all kinds of claims say how great immediate implant teeth are, how fast, reliable, and instantly you get them.

No matter how you put it, getting dental implants follows the same process. Whether it is immediate or non-immediate, the root still has to be implanted, then you wait several months, and then the crown is fitted. Only then do you have a properly implanted tooth.

Immediate, in fact, means skipping the waiting period after tooth extraction.

For example, some people, because of a traffic accident or severe tooth decay, need to have a tooth extracted at the dentist, or have just lost a tooth a few days ago. In these cases, after examination, the implant is placed directly, which is what we call immediate implant teeth.

So what if immediate implant teeth are not used?

It works like this: if conventional implant teeth are used, you need to wait several months. Taking tooth decay as an example, if the tooth is extracted, then you wait several months for the socket to heal, and only then is the implant placed, entering the implantation stage.

So what is extraction-and-immediate-use all about?

It works like this: whether you get immediate implant teeth or conventional implant teeth, a temporary crown can be fitted. This crown can also be used, looks fairly good, and you cannot even tell it is a fake tooth.

Of course, this is not the final implant crown. It is only a temporary crown, and in the end it still has to be removed and replaced with a tooth processed at the factory, usually made of porcelain.

Only at this stage can the implant tooth be considered finished.

Is it really necessary to pursue implant teeth that you can have immediately?

Personally, I do not think it is necessary. From a safety perspective, waiting a period of time after tooth loss before getting implant teeth is the more reliable approach.
