Wang grows more than two mu of cucumbers this year, and this year he is growing greenhouse cucumbers. Previously, because Wang had grown five or six mu of open-field cucumbers and felt he managed them pretty well, this year he wanted to try greenhouse cucumbers, thinking he might even earn more than before.

Cucumber "gourd-topping"

After Wang planted them, the cucumbers grew well, but once they had set enough fruit, "gourd-topping" appeared, and he did not know how to deal with it. His neighbors even came to gloat, and Wang said, I actually want "gourd-topping," "gourd-topping" is great, I am really happy.

Cucumber "gourd-topping"

Actually, that was just talk out of anger; these still need to be dealt with. He ran to the plant protection station and found a senior agronomist, asking the senior agronomist to come to the field and see how to solve this problem. Whoever runs into these problems scratches their head.

Cucumber "gourd-topping"

"Gourd-topping" may cause the plant to weaken and suffer a large yield reduction. After the senior agronomist went to look, he said the nighttime temperature must not be higher than 18 degrees, the daytime must not exceed 30 degrees, and the soil must not be allowed to lack water. If it lacks water, the leaves' photosynthetic capacity declines, they cannot manufacture nutrients, the whole plant will be in a state of nutrient imbalance, and "gourd-topping" will also appear. Looking at the vine, the main stem is different above and below, mainly caused by lack of fertilizer, which will also ultimately lead to "gourd-topping."

High-yield cucumbers

How should fertilizer be applied scientifically for "gourd-topping"?

1. When you see the vines becoming thin, apply fertilizer as soon as possible. Use 40 jin per mu of nitro 3+3 15-5-25, and apply heavy fertilizer twice in a row to build the cucumber vines back up.

2. After the cucumbers lose fertilizer, you also need to build up the cucumber root system. Use 20-20-20 water-soluble fertilizer at 10 jin per mu, and that is enough.

3. If the temperature inside the greenhouse is relatively low, then you need to boost root activity. Use humic acid fertilizer that can raise soil temperature, at 5 liters per mu, flushed in with two waterings, to fully supplement the cucumber root system and the nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium needed for growth.

Bumper cucumber harvest

After hearing this, Wang knew he had not used base fertilizer, so he quickly implemented the senior agronomist's fertilization plan, hoping for a good harvest.
