Planting begins at the pick-your-own strawberry farm: a firsthand look at the whole greenhouse planting process

In September 2017, the grower's dozens of greenhouses began to be planted with strawberries. According to the introduction, these strawberry seedlings were transported from Sichuan, thousands of li away, and the fruit is large, of high quality and high yield. The author witnessed the whole process of planting strawberries. It seems very easy when you imagine it, but in fact all farm work is very hard.

Spreading organic fertilizer. One greenhouse has 1.4 mu of land and needs 14 bags of organic fertilizer. The grower hired villagers to spread it, with wages calculated by the bag: 4 yuan per bag spread, which averages out to 70 or 80 yuan a day per person. There is a lot of fertilizer dust, and spreading it raises clouds of dust, so the villagers work wearing masks.

Because the soil is very soft and loose, many villagers planting the strawberry seedlings do not use tools; they directly dig a small hole with their hands, plant the strawberry seedling, and then press it down lightly.

While planting, the greenhouse is being wrapped with insulation material on one side, and the whole planting process for the high-temperature strawberry greenhouse is then complete. The cost of planting greenhouse strawberries is very high. Fresh strawberries can reach the market before the Spring Festival, and there are also many foreign orders. The estimated price is more than 30 yuan per jin. I hope the hard work can bring a good harvest.
