Pepper cultivation techniques explained: teaching you to effectively prevent the "three drops" phenomenon
Farmers growing peppers have all encountered the phenomenon of flower drop, fruit drop and leaf drop. This phenomenon is the "three drops" phenomenon of peppers. The main causes of the "three drops" are: an unsuitable cultivation environment, temperature too high or too low, humidity too high or too low, light too strong or too weak, and insufficient or excessive nutrients can all cause poor pollination or the formation of an abscission layer at the leaf stalk, thus causing the "three drops".

Measures to prevent and control the "three drops" of peppers: First, during cultivation, strengthen the regulation of temperature, air humidity and light inside the greenhouse, which can effectively prevent flower drop and fruit drop. Second, after the first pepper (the gate pepper) is harvested, water frequently to keep the soil moist, and prevent sudden watering after excessive drought. Generally, water about once every 7 days in the early fruiting stage, and once every 4 to 5 days in the peak fruiting stage. Watering should preferably be done in the morning on sunny days, and drip irrigation or subsurface irrigation under film is best, to prevent the temperature inside the greenhouse from getting too high.

Topdressing should follow the principle of small amounts applied frequently. Generally, when the base fertilizer is relatively sufficient, it can meet the needs before the gate pepper sets fruit. When the gate pepper grows to about 3 cm long, the first topdressing can be done together with watering, applying about 12 kg of urea and 10 kg of potassium sulfate per mu flushed with water. Entering the peak fruiting stage, depending on the plant's growth and fruiting conditions, chemical fertilizer or decomposed organic fertilizer can be applied 1 to 2 times. Only by doing these things well can peppers reduce flower drop, fruit drop and leaf drop, and only then can yields be increased.
