Several key points to note when growing strawberries
Growing strawberries is not an easy task. Only by mastering the characteristics of strawberry growing can you increase their yield.
1. Strawberries like a moist, loose soil environment. Newly planted strawberries should not be given too much fertilizer; too much fertilizer can easily burn the roots.
2. Strawberries like moisture, but they are very afraid of waterlogging. Water whenever the surface soil is almost dry.
3. When fruiting, the berries must not touch the soil, or they will rot. You can cover the ground under the berries with plastic film.
4. Always remove the old leaves of the strawberry plants.
5. When holes appear on the strawberry leaves, that means there are pests, usually caterpillars and snails. They can be removed with pesticide.
6. Pick strawberries in the morning, after the dew has dried, as this helps prevent the fruit from becoming soft. The strawberries are ripe when their color approaches deep red; the redder the color, the riper they are.
7. Note that birds will steal and eat them, so you can cover them with netting.
8. On the same flower cluster of a strawberry plant, the last two grades of flower buds should be removed, so as to ensure nutrients for the other flower buds.
At ordinary times, you must manage them carefully, observe the growth and changes of the strawberries at any time, and make adjustments at any time according to the specific situation.
