Tired of playing Honor of Kings? These eight tower defense mobile games are worth a try
Tower defense has always been my favorite game genre, from the crowd-pleasing "Defend the Carrot" to hardcore high-challenge ones like "Defense Zone." And "Plants vs. Zombies" needs no introduction, right?
01
Kingdom Rush series
Recommendation: 5 (out of 5)

When it comes to tower defense, you can't not mention the "Kingdom Rush" series by Ironhide Game Studio. This is a game at the very top of the tower defense pyramid, and it's incredibly fun. I remember the first time I played it was the Flash version 5 years ago, and it counts as the most classic, most fun, and most replayable tower defense game. The highly strategic tower upgrade system, heroes with wildly different unique skills, excellent and beautiful graphics, a rich achievement system, and of course the game also hides plenty of Ironhide Game Studio's quirky humor. For such a super classic tower defense game, I don't need to introduce it much; many players have probably already played it. If you haven't played it yet, then hurry up and download it.
02
Iron Marines (Ironhide)
Recommendation: 4

Ironhide Game Studio's latest mobile game, ten years in the making, launched on September 14 last month, and I got it right away. It's said to be a rare RTS on mobile, but after actually playing it, it has the shadow of Kingdom Rush, so it counts as a tower defense wearing an RTS coat. Some players comment that they felt like they were playing StarCraft or Warcraft, but I think that's too exaggerated. To adapt to mobile controls, the content is still shrunk a lot, but it's full of fun, and compared with Kingdom Rush it offers a different kind of fun. It's quite fun to play, but the campaign is just too short. Currently there are only 2 planets, which isn't satisfying enough. I believe subsequent updates will add a lot of content.
03
Clash of the Olympians
Recommendation: 4

Also from Ironhide Game Studio, relatively the least well-known, but that doesn't stop it from being fun. Ironhide Game Studio really takes tower defense to the extreme. This game feels like a perfect fusion of tower defense and "Angry Birds." The gameplay is very simple: you slide your finger on the screen to launch weapons and stop the enemy's attack, but the three heroes have 6 attack modes, and the feel differs greatly between them. However, the overall campaign is on the short side, so it counts as a short but polished little tower defense game.
04
Dungeon Warfare
Recommendation: 5

My favorite tower defense game besides Ironhide's works! Dungeon pixel style, combined with enemies rushing one after another to their deaths, that feeling is just so satisfying. There are tons of trap types, and the combinations are very rich. Each level lets you try clearing it with different traps, and the difficulty is very high, especially suitable for veteran gamers. There's also a rune system, which makes the game's replayability maxed out. It's a tower defense game you'll almost never get tired of, a must-play!
05
Base Defense: Warrior Invasion
Recommendation: 4

Another simple yet addictive pixel tower defense game, and the content is super rich too: different characters, a rich equipment system, and a tech system. In battle you tap like crazy, and watching swaths of enemies fall gives a kind of hack-and-slash thrill. It's very mesmerizing and addictive. But this is a game that requires grinding, needing endless farming. The consequences of getting addicted are very serious! Players with procrastination and obsessive-compulsive tendencies should play with caution.
06
Defense Zone 3
Recommendation: 4
A very traditional war-style tower defense game, with no heroes, no different tech branches, and the tower placement spots aren't fixed either, but because of that the strategy is very high when playing. The graphics are very beautiful and the war effects are great, but the difficulty is unusually high. Even normal difficulty is nightmare-level. Don't casually try nightmare difficulty, because the challenge really is very, very high. When I was addicted, I once stayed up all night just to perfectly clear one nightmare level...
07
FLOWAR
Recommendation: 4
A tower defense work from the "poison factory" 111%, and we will mention the poison factory 111% many times in the future. A tower defense game full of creativity with a retro artistic vibe. In the game we "grow flowers" to "protect flowers," planting flowers of different colors and using their various abilities to resist the attacks of pests. I think it's a tower defense game even more suitable for girls to play than "Defend the Carrot." The poison factory just adds its own unique recipe to seemingly ordinary game content, and it's always easy to get addicted when playing. Simple but addictive.
08
Tower Knights
Recommendation: 3
A tower defense game that, although not very well-known, I personally really like. It makes tower defense three-dimensional, turning the horizontal push gameplay into rotating up and down to climb the tower. The gameplay also combines three modes: heroes, defense towers, and troop deployment, bringing a different tower defense experience. Although you can only control the hero to move forward and back, the feel is exceptionally good, and it belongs to the type that's easy to pick up but hard to master. A creative tower defense game worth recommending.
