Cherry tomato, also known as small tomato or cherry tomato, is extremely rich in vitamins, basically ranking first among all kinds of fruits and vegetables, making it a true nutrition master. Because its shape resembles a cherry, people like to call it "cherry tomato." And potted cherry tomatoes not only have high ornamental value, but can also be made into sweet-and-sour delicious dishes to enjoy.

After this introduction, what does everyone think? If you could also personally grow a pot of cherry tomatoes on your own balcony, I believe you would surely feel delighted! Below, the editor will introduce the balcony cherry tomato growing method, hoping it will help everyone grow potted cherry tomatoes.

1. Prepare the Seeds

First, we need to buy cherry tomatoes from the market. After bringing them home, cut them open, take out the seeds, and set them aside to dry to make seeds. But the premise is that what you bought is authentic cherry tomatoes that have not been crossbred.

2. Seed Storage

After the seeds are dried, store them in a glass bottle. If it is not yet the sowing season and you want to continue storing the seeds, then you need to pour the seeds out of the glass bottle, wash them clean, and then dry them again. Seeds dried again are more suitable for long-term storage.

3. Sowing Preparation

When the sowing season for cherry tomatoes arrives, we take out the previously stored dry seeds from the glass bottle, then put them into clear warm water at about 35 degrees Celsius and soak them for several hours. After soaking for about 3-5 hours, we can take them out for sowing.

4. Sowing and Cultivation

Because the seeds have been soaked to promote germination, they become slightly plump, or swollen. Then take the seeds out and sprinkle them on a moistened paper towel, then put the paper towel together with the seeds into a plastic bag, and place it in a dark, warm place for about a week. After a week, you can find that the seeds have already sprouted and produced leaves. At this time, they can be transplanted into pots. Then cover with a layer of moist shallow soil and place in a sunny and well-ventilated place.

5. Seedling Care

As long as the potted plant is given a good growing environment, cherry tomatoes will grow rapidly at an astonishing speed. During the seedling period, in addition to maintaining ample sunlight, you should also water appropriately to keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged, and keep the temperature above 18 degrees Celsius. When the seedlings grow too densely, we need to thin them out, so previously it was recommended to plant only one seedling per pot.

6. Repotting and Soil Changing

When the cherry tomato seedlings have grown multiple leaves, we can repot them and change the soil. At this time, we need to prepare a larger flowerpot for them. When transplanting, try to keep as much of the original soil as possible. Put enough organic fertilizer at the bottom of the new pot, then place the plant in. After about three months of care, the topdressing can be increased.

7. Pruning and Training

During the care and management of cherry tomatoes, in addition to normal water and fertilizer management, we should also properly prune the side branches that grow out. For mature plants, in addition to setting up supports, we should also top them in a timely manner to control their shape and prevent excessive growth.

I believe that as long as everyone cultivates with care and manages meticulously, your potted cherry tomatoes at home will also surely bloom beautiful flowers on time and will surely bear fragrant and tempting fruit.
