Fruit is a gift from nature and the food best suited for supplementing the human body, yet amid drastic climate change, economic market competition, and the spread of the chemical industry, which fruits can actually be eaten with peace of mind, and which fruits might contain excessive "chemical pesticides"?

98% tested positive for pesticides, strawberries have the most serious pesticide application

The nonprofit organization EWG (Environmental Working Group) in Washington, D.C., USA, conducted testing and ranked the "twelve fruits" with the most "pesticide residues," as well as the "fifteen fruits" with the lowest pesticide residues. Among the twelve "pesticide fruits," "strawberries" had the highest amount of detected pesticides, with up to 98% of strawberries testing positive for pesticide residues, and 40% having multiple pesticide residues. These chemical pesticides are believed to be closely linked to cancer, reproductive system disorders, hormone disruption, and nervous system problems.

Even small doses of pesticides may severely affect children's brains and development

Orchard farmers apply pesticides to strawberries mainly to increase yield and extend the growing season. Although the detected pesticide residues are within the legal range, they believe the government's regulatory standards are too lenient, and that consuming small doses of chemical pesticides may affect young children's brains or development. The insecticides (glyphosate) used on these fruits and vegetables may have adverse effects on children's intellectual development, especially strawberries, peaches, nectarines, and apples, which have more detected pesticides than other fruits.

Clean fruit ranking, avocado takes the top spot

On the other hand, in the "fifteen clean fruits" ranking, "avocado" takes first place, with less than 1% of avocados testing positive for pesticide residues, making it a fruit very suitable for the whole family to eat. If you want to buy the "twelve pesticide fruits," be sure to choose products from organic farms or orchards to reduce the risk of accidentally ingesting pesticides.

Due to differences in testing methods and cultivation practices, the public is reminded to buy domestically grown fruits as much as possible. If purchasing imported fruits and vegetables from abroad, pay special attention to the types on these lists to prevent family members from ingesting residual pesticides.
