Last time we talked about how the potatoes and purple sweet potatoes in the deeply buried diagram had very few pesticides. What about the tomatoes everyone eats often? Before this, we had never tested tomatoes for pesticide residues, and someone left us a message saying we should test them. So this time we support everyone, and let's test tomatoes.

Test items

1 Heavy metals

Testing five kinds: lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, chromium。

Heavy metals caused by industrial pollution are absorbed by agricultural products. After people eat contaminated agricultural products, heavy metals accumulate in the body over many years, causing damage to tissues and nerves and even cancer. The five listed above are the most common heavy metals in pollution, and the national standard sets limit requirements for different agricultural products.

2 Pesticide residues

Pesticide residues refer to the collective term for trace amounts of pesticide parent compounds, toxic metabolites, degradation products and impurities that remain in agricultural products because they have not been decomposed within a period after pesticide use. After people eat contaminated agricultural products, residual pesticides accumulate in the human body over the long term, causing chronic poisoning, posing a potential threat to human health, and even inducing many chronic diseases and even cancer.

There are thousands of types of pesticides, and it is impossible to test them all. What was selected here isTesting for 210+ common pesticide residues under the GB 2763-2016 standard。

Test results

Below are screenshots of the test results:

Heavy metals were completely not detected. Great!

Eleven items of pesticide residues were detected, compared with the standard:

Tomatoes, eleven kinds of pesticide residues......

However, the residue amounts are all very small,

so eating them peeled should be quite safe.

Safety reminder: This report can only show the situation of the tested items, but it does not mean whether other untested items meet the standard. (There is no way around it; pesticide residue items number in the thousands, and testing all of them is not very realistic.)
