How to grow loquat in pots? A detailed guide to the planting method

How to grow potted loquat
Potting up
Plant the grafted loquat seedling in a suitable flower pot. For the growing medium, it is best to choose loam with a deep soil layer and good drainage and aeration. The soil should make up about 70-80% of the pot, and some broken tiles or stones should also be placed at the bottom of the pot.
Watering
Loquat likes moisture, so keep the potting soil moist. Increase the frequency of watering in summer, and combine it with misting to raise the humidity of the surrounding air.

Fertilizing
Generally, fertilize 3-4 times a year. Apply fertilizer once around late March, when the spring shoots sprout and before fruit thinning; apply a light fertilizer a second time before harvest in May; apply fertilizer once in August during the period when flower buds begin to differentiate; and apply a light fertilizer once in September at the flower bud differentiation and bud emergence stage.
Pest and disease control
For pests and diseases of potted loquat, prevention and control mainly rely on ventilation and drainage. When disease occurs, spray thiophanate-methyl at 700 times dilution or 0.5-0.9% Bordeaux mixture for control. Pests can be controlled by manual capture, and pesticides such as 90% crystallized trichlorfon at 1000 times dilution can also be sprayed for control.
