Detailed Guide to Growing Cayenne Pepper in Balcony Containers
Chili peppers are an indispensable vegetable in our lives. Usually, the peppers are picked and dried in the sun so they can be stored and eaten for a long time. Do gardening friends know that cayenne peppers can also be grown as potted plants on the balcony? Placed on the balcony as a potted plant, cayenne peppers are not only edible but also have high ornamental value as a bonsai, adding a touch of charm and vitality to the home.

Seed Soaking and Germination
First, the seeds need to be soaked in water at 50 to 55 degrees. Maintain the water temperature at 30 degrees, and after 12 to 24 hours, take the seeds out and drain the water for later use. This can shorten the plant's germination time and increase the germination rate.
Sowing and Seedling Raising
When the seeds show white sprouts, they are ready to be sown. Before sowing, water the soil thoroughly, then scatter the seeds evenly, and afterward cover the seeds with a layer of soil about 1 cm thick.

Thinning and Transplanting
When the cayenne peppers grow 2 to 3 leaves, it is time to thin the seedlings. Only one seedling needs to be kept in each disposable cup. After the seedlings emerge, when watering, pay attention to watering only when the soil is dry. When the plant's leaves grow to about six or seven, it is time to transplant. After placing the seedling together with its soil into the flower pot, water it thoroughly. It is best to plant only one in each flower pot.
Water Control and Fertilizing
Before the plant flowers and sets fruit, be sure to pay attention to the amount of watering; it should not be too much, so as to promote the normal growth of the plant's roots. As for fertilizing, a general organic fertilizer needs to be applied once every half month. During the growth stage, soil should also be hilled up in time; generally, more soil should be added around the roots.

Staking and Harvesting
When the main stem of the cayenne pepper grows twelve or thirteen leaves, the growing tip needs to be pinched off. When it grows vigorously and bears many fruits, it is best to set up a frame to support the plant, so as to prevent the fruits from breaking the branches.
