How do you plant narcissus bulbs? Just remember these five key tips and you are all set
I know many of you grow your ownnarcissus bulbs, but a lot of you just take the narcissus bulbs you bought and put them straight into water culture
Of course, what we are mainly talking about here is also water culture, but in fact there are many tricks both in choosing and in planting narcissus bulbs
Some narcissus bulbs look like they have a lot of sprouts, but many of them are leaf buds rather than flower buds, so you need to start paying attention to the tricks when buying

1. Look at the number of clumps
Most narcissus bulbs on the market are Zhangzhou narcissus bulbs, and they classify narcissus bulbs by number into 10 clumps, 20 clumps, 30 clumps, and so on
The fewer the clumps of narcissus bulbs, the bigger the bulb and the more flower buds; the 10-clump and 20-clump ones are usually larger in size and better in quality
2. Look at the shape of the narcissus bulb
A flat and round bulb has more flower buds; wide spacing between the vertical stripes on the surface of the bulb and a large, thick base mean the bulb is more mature, and usually its quality is also better.
You all also know that narcissus bulbs usually have a few small bulbs growing at the side, right? The more small bulbs, the more flowers; on the other hand, if there are no small bulbs, it may bloom less or not bloom at all

3. Look at the color
The outer skin being dark brown and shiny is best; next, check whether there are spots and whether the membrane is intact
4. Press and squeeze with your fingers
Choose ones that are springy; if they feel rather soft when you squeeze them, then they are no good

5. When planting, it is best to carve them first
Carved narcissus bulbs grow into elegant shapes, while uncarved narcissus will just grow straight upward
