A couple of days ago, I shared my experience growing air plants and Aloe vera (Curaçao aloe), rambling on about my personal feelings at length. Today I'll talk about growing strawberries.

Growing Method 1: Vertical wall-mounted setup on the balcony

1. Six 160 PVC pipe growing troughs. You can just buy these at a building materials market. The row spacing for the troughs should be about 30 cm, and the plant spacing about 13 cm. Just drill holes on the outside of your balcony and fix them in place.

2. Bought 100 strawberry seedlings online

3. Photo taken the afternoon they were planted

4. Photo taken one week after planting

5. 13 days after planting, new leaves started to grow - declaring the strawberries successfully established.

6. The moment of a big harvest.

This growing method makes full use of outdoor space and saves indoor space. Growing outdoors also makes pollination easier for strawberries - after all, there are more insects outside, which helps with pollination. And it's also a beautiful sight, sure to make your neighbors green with envy.

Growing Method 2: Indoor pot growing on the balcony

I bought some potting soil at the flower market near my home and bought strawberry seedlings online, planted them in pots, and placed them on the balcony. Don't water too much at the beginning.

After the strawberry flowers bloomed, I pollinated them by hand using a cotton swab. Look how many strawberries this produced.

Actually, you can grow quite a lot of strawberries on a balcony - enough to eat, so you basically don't need to buy them from outside anymore. Homegrown ones are reassuring, and it also cultivates your character. Watching them grow day by day feels great.
