Choose good-quality seed: For spring corn planting, select varieties with a growth period of more than 112 days, a well-developed root system, a compact plant type, leaves that point upward, vigorous growth, and strong stress resistance. Before sowing, carefully select the seeds, remove small grains, diseased grains, and shriveled grains, and dry them in the sun for 2-3 days to enhance the seeds' water absorption capacity, promote earlier emergence, and improve seedling uniformity.

Choose coated seed: When buying seed, it is best to choose coated seed. If the seed is not coated, mix 50 grams of phorate plus one vial of BiduoShou with 20 kg of corn seed to control underground pests and help the seedlings emerge earlier.

Choose the best sowing time: The sowing time for spring corn should be determined according to soil moisture conditions. After the reserved spring field has undergone autumn plowing and winter irrigation, in early spring it should be harrowed and rolled to preserve moisture. For ordinary plots, the sowing time is generally from late April to early May.

Increase fertilizer application: Before sowing, prepare the land carefully, increase the application of phosphate fertilizer and potassium fertilizer, and adjust the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in the soil, generally 1:0.7:0.5. For a medium-yield plot with a yield of 600 kg of corn per mu, apply 20 kg of diammonium phosphate, 25 kg of urea, and 15 kg of potassium sulfate per mu. At sowing, apply 70% of the nitrogen fertilizer and all of the phosphate fertilizer and potassium fertilizer as base fertilizer in one application, and apply the remaining 30% of the nitrogen fertilizer as topdressing at a distance of 15 cm from the roots when the plants have grown to 10 leaves.

Sowing technique: Where conditions permit, mechanical sowing or double-tube sowing should be encouraged, with a sowing rate of 2 kg/mu, and seed and fertilizer sown separately with the tubes. Note that fertilizer should be applied 3-4 cm below the seed. This not only prevents seedling burn but also promotes the seedling roots to grow downward. Where conditions do not permit, a small plow can be used to open furrows and seed can be scattered by hand, with a sowing rate of 2.5-3 kg/mu.

By mastering the above measures, the framework for a high yield is established, and the desired corn yield can be obtained after autumn.
