To grow pollution-free rice, the first thing is to clearly understand what the principles of pollution-free rice are.
Growing pollution-free rice should follow the principles of sustainable development and production according to specific production methods. There are strict requirements starting from seed selection; for reasonable close planting, the use of pesticides should follow the plant protection principle of "prevention first, integrated control," and chemical pesticides should be avoided as much as possible. As the saying goes, "every medicine has its own toxicity."
The growing conditions for pollution-free rice are mainly soil, water and air free from pollution and residues. Seeds must not be genetically modified or seed-dressed. No pesticides or chemical fertilizers may be used during the growing process; only biological control and organic farmyard manure may be used, and processing, transportation, packaging and storage must all meet organic requirements.
The production area environment must be tested by a qualified testing institution; irrigation water (water for livestock and poultry drinking and for processing), soil, atmosphere and so on must meet the national environmental quality requirements for pollution-free agricultural product production. There must be no polluting enterprises within a 3 km radius around the production area, and production areas for vegetables, tea, fruit and so on should be more than 100 m away from main traffic roads; pollution-free agricultural product production areas should be concentrated and contiguous, with relatively stable products and a certain scale.
Planting, production and processing shall follow the national organic agricultural production standards. During production, organisms and their products obtained through genetic engineering shall not be used; substances such as chemically synthesized pesticides, chemical fertilizers, growth regulators and feed additives shall not be used; natural laws and ecological principles shall be followed, and the balance between crop farming and livestock farming shall be coordinated; a series of advanced agricultural technologies for sustainable development shall be adopted to maintain a sustained and stable agricultural production method, thereby obtaining the final organic rice fruit.
How exactly should it be done?
In high-yield cultivation of pollution-free rice, the first thing to do is to select two kinds of pollution-free rice.
① In selecting pollution-free rice seeds, the seeds are required to have relatively good quality, relatively strong disease resistance and relatively high yield.
② The selected pollution-free rice seeds not only need to be of relatively high quality, but also need to conform to the principle of adapting measures to local conditions. Only by considering local planting conditions can pollution-free rice be promoted throughout the entire production process to conform to local soil conditions, climate factors and so on. Ultimately, this promotes high yields of pollution-free rice.
③ After selecting the pollution-free high-quality rice seeds, in order to improve the physical performance of the seeds, they should be exposed to ultraviolet light, thereby killing the pathogens on the seeds and increasing the emergence rate of the pollution-free rice seeds.
II. Applying Pollution-Free Organic Fertilizer
In the cultivation of pollution-free rice, the application of harmful substances such as chemical fertilizers is required to be avoided, and this is what leads to the relatively low yield of pollution-free rice. In order to ensure the high output value of pollution-free rice, it is necessary before planting to apply pollution-free organic fertilizer to the land where the rice is to be planted. At present, the most common pollution-free organic fertilizer is returning straw to the field. Using straw return can not only avoid air pollution caused by burning, but also increase the organic matter in the soil and improve the soil texture.
2. Scientific Management of Rice Fields
After cultivating pollution-free rice fields, scientific management of the rice fields is also needed. In carrying out scientific management of rice fields, the first step is reasonable irrigation of the rice fields: farmers are required, when growing pollution-free rice, to carry out irrigation work according to the growth condition of the rice fields, and also to irrigate appropriately according to the rice fields' requirements for irrigation water volume. Second, harmless organic fertilizer should also be added at the right time: generally, fields are applied with nitrogen fertilizer 5-7 days after transplanting; fields that tiller early may not be applied with tillering fertilizer or may be applied with less.
Finally, scientific management of rice fields also requires pest and disease control: because pollution-free rice requires extremely low levels of harmful substances, in the pest and disease control of pollution-free rice, the most important thing is to reasonably use physical control, carry out manual capture and weeding, and use natural enemies of pests and diseases to treat pests and diseases. In this way, effective production of pollution-free rice fields and increased yield are ensured.
