Gardeners often ask about growing nasturtium from seed, so I've put together the whole process of how I grow nasturtiums, hoping it helps beginners. Although nasturtium seeds can remain viable for 5 years, old seeds have too low a germination rate, so it's best to choose seeds collected last year when sowing

Before sowing, soak the seeds in warm or cold water for 24 hours, gently peel off the outer shell, then place them on a paper towel to sprout

The sprouting process usually produces a root tip in 2 to 7 days; when it grows to 2 mm, it's ready to go into soil for seedling raising, covered with 2 cm of soil, and it will sprout in 3 to 5 days

I recommend using a transparent plastic cup for raising seedlings, wrapped on the outside with paper to prevent light from scorching the roots

When the roots have filled the cup, it's ready to be planted out; choose an 18 to 20 cm flower pot for planting
