The mandarin orange is a southern fruit, fairly common in the south, while in the north only a small amount is grown in greenhouses. With the development of society and the use of underfloor heating and air conditioning, mandarin oranges have also entered countless households in the form of potted plants. Below, let's learn about the planting method for potted mandarin oranges.

Everyone knows that citrus is a southern fruit tree, so the first thing we need to do is understand the living environment of the mandarin orange. The mandarin orange likes a warm and humid environment, with an optimal growth temperature between 15 and 38°C, and a relative air humidity requirement of around 60%. The potting soil should be loose and breathable. In addition, the organic matter content should be between 3% and 5%.

Once we understand the living environment of the mandarin orange, we can then get to work making our own potted mandarin orange.

The first step is choosing a flower pot. The pot should be determined by the size of the mandarin orange's root system and canopy: use a large pot for a large canopy and root system, and a small pot for a small one. The pot is best a clay pot with small ventilation holes in the bottom.

Next is preparing the potting soil. You can choose garden soil plus fermented farmyard manure and sesame oil residue, mix them together in a 1:1:1 ratio, stir evenly, and leave them together to ferment for about 15 days, then spread them out to dry in the sun for 2-3 days.

Once all the preparation work is done, you can plant the mandarin orange. First, lay a layer of stones at the bottom of the flower pot to help keep the root system breathable and also to drain excess water from the pot. Then spread a layer of fermented organic fertilizer on top of the stones, then fill in the prepared nutrient soil and plant the mandarin orange. The mandarin orange's root system must be above that layer of fermented organic fertilizer and must not come into contact with the organic fertilizer for a short period. Then bury the soil up to the mandarin orange's neck. Then press it down with your hands and water it thoroughly.

Next is daily care, namely timely pruning of branches and leaves to achieve the goal of nutrient accumulation. During the flowering and fruiting period, thinning should be carried out, clearing away incompletely developed and excess fruit, to achieve the goal of preserving flowers and fruit.
