PottedAppleis a method of cultivating fruit trees after dwarfing them. This method is suitable for the cultivation of various fruit trees. Potted apples can not only serve as ornamental bonsai but their fruit is also edible, achieving multiple benefits at once; off-season potted plants bearing fruit can sell for one hundred yuan per fruit. Since potted apples have so many advantages, next we will learn about the methods for growing potted apples.

First is choosing a suitable flower pot. The diameter of the pot should be 40 cm or more, with a depth between 30-35 cm, and the bottom should have small breathable holes to facilitate drainage.

Then comes preparing the nutrient soil. Choose decomposed pine needles, fermented cow manure, and castor bean cake organic fertilizer, mix them evenly in a 1:1:1 ratio, and put the mixture into a round flower pot.

Next is preparing the apple saplings. When selecting saplings, choose robust plants with plump buds and no pests or diseases. Plant them in pots in mid-April. Before planting, dip the roots in 5% carbendazim to kill bacteria on the root system. Then plant the fruit tree into the round flower pot. After burying it firmly and patting the soil down, water it thoroughly to ensure the potted fruit tree survives safely.

Then comes pruning. When the fruit tree grows to 1.5-2 times the height of the pot, coil it to inhibit growth and achieve the goal of promoting a robust main stem. Then cut off side branches that are growing too vigorously. Combined with branch bending, carry out shoot twisting, pinching, scoring, and girdling, which can cultivate a large number of fruiting branches and promote the formation of flower buds, achieving the goals of early fruiting and abundant fruiting.

Finally comes flower and fruit management. During the flowering period, spray with 0.25% borax to increase the fruit-setting rate. During the fruit-setting period, be careful to water less, and after fruit set, replenish water in time to increase the growth rate of the fruit. About thirty days after fruit set, the fruit is basically formed, and after it changes color, it can be picked and eaten.
