What basic facilities are needed for making edible mushroom spawn?
Spawn Production of Edible Mushrooms
Section 1 Basic Facilities for Spawn Production
The site for producing edible mushroom spawn should be chosen in a place with a clean environment, convenient transportation, and adequate water and electricity supply, and care should be taken to keep it as far as possible from livestock
farms, livestock and poultry feed yards, and fermentation plants, so as to avoid interference or infestation by other microorganisms. The buildings for cultivating edible mushrooms are best made of brick or reinforced concrete
constructionand may also be of earth-and-wood structure; each room must be able to be sealed, insulated, and kept warm, and the indoor and outdoor floors and surrounding drainage ditches should be paved with cement or brick and stone
pavingso as to facilitate cleaning and disinfection.
According to the procedures of spawn creation, the workplace is divided into parts such as the raw material warehouse, raw material drying yard, washing room, mixing room, sterilization room, inoculation room
andculture room, and the layout of each dedicated room should be reasonable, preferably consistent with the production procedure. Generally speaking, the sterilization room should be close to the inoculation
room, sothat the containers taken out after sterilization are not contaminated by stray microorganisms. The sterilization room should not be close to the culture room, so as to affect the temperature of the culture room; the preparation room is where the culture medium is prepared
and should be far from the culture room, so as to avoid bringing in contamination by stray microorganisms.
1. Raw material warehouse and drying yard
The raw material warehouse is the site for storing the culture material, so the size and area of the raw material warehouse can be determined according to the scale of cultivation; generally, a room with good ventilation
and spacious and tidy is chosen as the raw material warehouse. In addition, the raw material warehouse should also be set up in a place with convenient transportation, open surroundings, a dry environment, and not far from the mixing
room.
The drying yard uses exposure to sunlight to disinfect the surface of the edible mushroom culture material and cultivation racks, and is also used to further dry the culture material,
making it easy to store, so the site should be chosen in a sunny, well-ventilated, spacious place, generally outside the raw material warehouse.
