Liu Bengui from Shou County, Anhui Province, called to say that in recent years field bindweed has been severe in local sesame fields, and common herbicides cannot control it; he does not know which herbicide should be used to control this weed. According to relevant information, for chemical weed control in sesame fields, before sowing sesame, use 80-100 ml of 48% trifluralin emulsifiable concentrate per mu, or 50-70 g of 70% prometryn wettable powder, add water and spray evenly on the soil surface, then immediately incorporate into the soil to a depth of 3-5 cm; this can control annual grass weeds and some broadleaf

Liu Bengui from Shou County, Anhui Province, called to say that in recent years field bindweed has been severe in local sesame fields, and common herbicides cannot control it; he does not know which herbicide should be used to control this weed.

According to relevant information, for chemical weed control in sesame fields, before sowing sesame, use 80-100 ml of 48% trifluralin emulsifiable concentrate per mu, or 50-70 g of 70% prometryn wettable powder, add water and spray evenly on the soil surface, then immediately incorporate into the soil to a depth of 3-5 cm; this can control annual grass weeds and some broadleaf weeds.

Or after sowing sesame and before emergence, use 130-180 ml of 48% metolachlor emulsifiable concentrate per mu, or 120-250 ml of 20% napropamide emulsifiable concentrate, or 150-200 ml of 50% thiobencarb emulsifiable concentrate, or 150-250 ml of 48% alachlor emulsifiable concentrate, or 75-100 ml of 25% oxadiazon emulsifiable concentrate, add water and spray on the soil surface; this can control annual grass weeds and some broadleaf weeds. High soil moisture is favorable for the efficacy to be exerted.

For post-emergence stem and leaf treatment, at the 2-4 leaf stage of weeds, use 25-35 ml of 12% clethodim emulsifiable concentrate per mu, or 25-30 ml of 10.8% haloxyfop-R-methyl emulsifiable concentrate, or 50-70 ml of 15% fluazifop-P-butyl emulsifiable concentrate, or 50-60 ml of 7.5% quizalofop-P-ethyl concentrated emulsifiable concentrate, add water and spray; it has a very good control effect on annual and perennial grass weeds. Applying the herbicide when soil moisture is suitable and weeds are growing vigorously gives a better weeding effect. For fields where grass weeds and broadleaf weeds are mixed, at the 3-5 leaf stage of grass weeds and the 2-4 leaf stage of broadleaf weeds, haloxyfop-R-methyl can be mixed with an appropriate amount of bentazone, fomesafen, acifluorfen or lactofen.

Among the above herbicides, oxadiazon, acifluorfen and other herbicides have relatively good efficacy against field bindweed (Ipomoea hederacea, Ipomoea purpurea). Among them, oxadiazon (oxadiazon, oxadiazon) can control crabgrass, wild millet, fall panicum, foxtail, barnyardgrass, wild watermelon seedling, purslane, velvetleaf, redroot pigweed, lambsquarters, Ipomoea hederacea, Ipomoea purpurea, prickly sida, painted euphorbia, bigfruit sesbania and other weeds. Acifluorfen (acifluorfen sodium) can control black nightshade, Polygonum lapathifolium, Polygonum hydropiper, Polygonum nodosum, Polygonum persicaria, copperleaf, redroot pigweed, livid amaranth, spiny amaranth, dayflower, water starwort, Elsholtzia, velvetleaf, ragweed, beggarticks, lambsquarters, cocklebur, datura, purslane, Mollugo pentaphylla, Ipomoea hederacea, Ipomoea purpurea, Polygonum convolvulus, Bidens tripartita and other annual broadleaf weeds, and has a strong inhibitory effect on perennial sowthistle, field thistle, Cirsium setosum and field horsetail.

Acifluorfen and other herbicides for controlling broadleaf weeds may also cause some phytotoxicity to sesame; it is recommended to expand the treated area only after a successful trial on a small area.
