Characteristics and Application of the Herbicide Nabu in Sesame Fields
[Trade name] Nabu
[Common name] sethoxydim
[Formulations] 12.5% oil-miscible emulsion, 20% emulsifiable concentrate
[Application rate] To control annual grass weeds with 12.5% Nabu oil-miscible emulsion or 20% Nabu emulsifiable concentrate, use 1.0 L per hectare at the 2-3 leaf stage; 1.5 L at the 4-5 leaf stage; 2.0 L at the 6-7 leaf stage. Under drought conditions, the application rate of 12.5% Nabu is the same as above; for 20% Nabu emulsifiable concentrate, use 1.5 L per hectare at the 2-3 leaf stage to control annual grass weeds. Adding 2.0-2.5 L of diesel oil to 20% Nabu can improve efficacy and allow a 20%-30% reduction in the application rate. Under drought conditions, a standard rate of Nabu oil-miscible emulsion can also achieve stable efficacy. To control perennial grass weeds at the 3-5 leaf stage, use 3.0-5.0 L per hectare of 12.5% Nabu oil-miscible emulsion or 20% Nabu emulsifiable concentrate.
[Timing of application] Post-emergence of sesame, at the 3-5 leaf stage of grass weeds.
[Targets] Annual and perennial grass weeds such as barnyardgrass, wild oat, green foxtail, yellow foxtail, crabgrass, shortawn foxtail, Chinese sprangletop, brome, downy brome, jungle rice, lovegrass, signalgrass, Japanese brome, crowfoot grass, fall panicum, goosegrass, wild proso millet, Hordeum species, Secale species, bermudagrass, reed, cogongrass, quackgrass, Aneurolepidium species, johnsongrass, and others.
[Application technique] Broadcast application over the whole field or band application along the seed row are both acceptable. With a knapsack sprayer, the spray volume is 150-300 L per hectare; with a tractor sprayer, 75-100 L. Adequate moisture, high relative humidity, and vigorous weed growth favor the absorption and translocation of Nabu. Apply in the early morning or evening when temperatures are low; stop application at midday when temperatures are high. Do not apply on windy days, and do not apply when wind speed exceeds 5 meters per second. Check the weather forecast before application; after application, a rain-free interval of 2-3 hours is needed to avoid affecting efficacy. Ultra-low-volume spraying is also possible under conditions of high relative humidity.
Three days after treatment with Nabu, affected plants stop growing; after 5 days, the central leaf can be easily pulled out by hand; after 7 days, the central leaf fades or loses its green color and turns purple, and the base turns brown and dies; after 10-15 days, the entire plant dies. Since weed death after Nabu application takes time, do not rush to apply other herbicides or take other weed control measures immediately after application.
[Rotation] No effect on subsequent crops.
[Precautions] Pay attention to wind speed and wind direction during application; do not allow the spray solution to drift onto grass crops such as @#@245@#@, corn, and rice, so as to avoid causing phytotoxicity.
