The new sesame variety Jinzhi No. 1 has the characteristics of high yield and high resistance
Jinzhi No. 1 is a new sesame variety selected and bred through years of research by the @#@245@#@ Institute of the Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It passed provincial variety approval in 1994 and was recognized as an achievement by the Provincial Science and Technology Commission in 1998.
(1) Characteristics: single stem, square stem, strong growth, dark green leaves, plant height 170 cm, three capsules per leaf, low position of the first capsule, dense capsules, 80 seeds per capsule, 1000-grain weight 3.1 g, white seed coat, excellent quality, oil content 56.2%, meeting export standards. Growth period 100 days for spring sowing, 85-90 days for summer sowing, belonging to the medium-early maturing variety, highly resistant to Fusarium wilt, moderately resistant to leaf spot.
(2) Yield performance: In 1991, the institute's variety comparison trial yielded 96.5 kg per mu, an increase of 11.2% over the control variety; in the two-year provincial production trial from 1992 to 1993, all 14 test sites showed increased yield, with an increase of 26.2% over the control Xiangyi No. 4. In large-scale demonstrations in Linfen, Yuncheng and other areas, the general yield per mu was 85-120 kg, with high yields reaching over 200 kg.
(3) Cultivation points: (1) Sow early and manage early. (2) Row spacing 40 cm, plant spacing 15 cm, 10,000-12,000 plants per mu, sowing rate 0.3-0.4 kg per mu. (3) Apply 15 kg of ammonium phosphate nitrate as base fertilizer per mu, topdress 7.5 kg of urea per mu combined with watering at the bud and flowering stages, and spray chlormequat, carbendazim and potassium dihydrogen phosphate on the leaves 2-3 times. (4) Top at the right time, topping or spraying daminozide 15-20 days before harvest. (5) Control pests and diseases. This variety is suitable for summer sowing in the Huang-Huai wheat region, southern Shanxi and southeastern Shanxi, and for spring sowing in Luliang, Jinzhong, Xinzhou and other areas.
