Pandun soybean was developed by Comrade Gao Xuehuan through distant hybridization, using "Swan Egg" soybean as the female parent and iron-pod pumpkin as the male parent. This achievement has been legally examined by the National Intellectual Property Administration and was publicly announced in the China Patent News on July 7, 2004, with patent publication number 02135997.0.

The characteristics of this soybean are determinate podding, indeterminate branching, automatic topping, and pods formed in spikes.

It has excellent yield potential, mainly for the following reasons: First, the plant height is about 1.6 m, with exceptional plants reaching 2 m. The basal diameter of the main stem is generally 2 to 4 cm, the root system is well developed, and lateral roots can extend more than 1 m deep. A single plant generally produces about 500 g of dry soybean, some exceed 1 kg, and exceptional plants reach more than 1.5 kg. Second, it has extremely strong branching ability: the main stem produces large branches, large branches produce small branches, small branches produce lateral branches, and lateral branches produce secondary branches. Third, it has a high podding rate, and the pods are formed in spikes. This soybean has a compact plant type and a fan shape, strong stem toughness, wind resistance, a preference for water and fertilizer, drought tolerance, and strong adaptability. It bears purple flowers, has gray hairs, and its seeds are oval and glossy. The seed coat and hilum are both yellow, and the 100-seed weight is 25 to 35 g. Through experimental cultivation, the seeding rate is 1 kg per mu, with 1300 to 2500 plants per mu. The minimum growth period is 115 days, and the yield per mu is more than 600 kg. With precision agriculture cultivation, the yield can reach a ton, and the seed can be saved and used continuously for many years without degeneration.

In the "China (Shandong) Agricultural Products Guinness Record Challenge TV Competition," Pandun soybean achieved an excellent single-plant yield of 2.61 kg, ranking first among the participating varieties. It will continue to challenge in 2006 and is expected to win the Guinness title of "Soybean King."

Pandun soybean was successfully bred using distant hybridization technology. There are currently three varieties: Pandun soybean, Pandun soybean No. 2, and Pandun soybean No. 3. If you want to introduce genuine original seed of the Pandun soybean series, please come to Penglou Industrial Park, Juancheng County, Shandong. The inventor, Comrade Gao Xuehuan, and Professor Ma Keyun welcome you and will answer your difficult questions on site.
