Xindou No.1, a high-quality, high-yield soybean variety
Xindou No.1 was developed by Huanong Hualin (Beijing) International Agricultural Development Research Center based on the basic principles of soybean breeding in China, using conventional hybridization and modern advanced breeding methods.
Xindou No.1 was bred with Brazilian Ziyou soybean as the female parent and Lufeng soybean as the male parent, through ten years of selection, with 1-4 generations of backcrossing, and selected from the progeny. This variety adapts to the climatic conditions of most regions in China, and can be planted on mountain ridges, hilly ridges, sandy land, low-lying alkaline land, and poor land. It can be planted on a large scale in China except in a few local areas.
Characteristics and traits
The plants of this variety are tall and dense. Spring-sown plants generally reach over 1.65 m, with the tallest reaching 1.8 m; summer-sown plants can reach 1.5 m. Spring sowing requires wide row spacing and wide plant spacing, and produces many tillers. For summer sowing, row spacing and plant spacing can be appropriately slightly smaller, with fewer tillers. It is a tall-stem soybean line. It grows 35-50 nodes, and Xindou No.1 has lanceolate round leaves. The flowering period is about 55 days for spring soybeans and about 35 days for summer soybeans. The pod skin is brown, with three-seeded pods and four-seeded pods; the seeds are yellow with a black hilum. This soybean is of the semi-determinate growth habit with limited podding, and its stability is extremely strong. It is cold-resistant, drought-resistant, waterlogging-resistant, and especially wind-resistant, does not lodge, tolerates fertilizer and water, is highly resistant to many diseases, is not afraid of continuous cropping, and shows no yellow disease phenomenon.
Number of plants per mu: 8,000-10,000 plants (spring), 13,000-15,000 plants (summer). Growth period: 100-110 days for spring sowing, 90 days for summer sowing. High yield: 300-500 kg for spring sowing, 250 kg for summer sowing (under different climates, different soil fertility, different water and fertilizer, and different management conditions respectively).
This soybean variety has high quality, good taste, high oil content, and high protein. According to the appraisal by the Food Supervision and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture of China: spring soybeans contain 35.83% protein and 30.37% oil; summer-sown soybeans contain 36.58% protein and 24.22% oil. It is a high-protein, high-oil, high-quality soybean brand.
Key technical points
Plow the land at the right time and sow at the right time. For spring sowing, after May 1; for summer sowing, after Grain in Ear. A sufficient base fertilizer of ammonium phosphate or Shiji Tianwang fertilizer can be applied at one time at 20 jin per mu.
For spring sowing, row spacing is about 60 cm, plant spacing is 20 cm, sow 2-3 seeds per hole by dibbling; direct sowing with plant spacing of about 5 cm is also possible, and seedlings can be left in a triangular arrangement. For summer sowing, row spacing is about 50 cm; direct sowing is suitable with plant spacing of about 5 cm and hole depth of 2 cm. Summer sowing must be timely; for sowing after June 15, row spacing can be about 40 cm.
Apply topdressing (compound fertilizer) at the right time, water at the right time, and control pests and diseases at the right time.
When the seedlings are about 30 cm tall, spray soybean-specific foliar fertilizer or Heshi Feng foliar fertilizer 1-2 times, increasing yield by 10%. Hoe lightly once with a hoe; there is no need to hoe more, so as to avoid damaging the root system.
This soybean variety does not need pinching; it automatically caps its growth.
Harvesting must be done after all the pods have matured (because this soybean variety does not easily drop pods or shatter seeds).
