I. Variety Origin
Bred in 1995 by the Institute of Genetics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Ludou No. 4 was used as the parental material for chemical mutagenesis treatment. Approved in Beijing in 2000.
II. Characteristics and Traits
Growth period under spring sowing 140-143 days, plant height 100-105 cm; growth period under summer sowing 99-102 days, plant height 60-70 cm. Plant type is compact. Leaves are elliptical, leaf color dark green, leaves fall at maturity, white flowers, gray pubescence. Pod-setting height 10-15 cm, sub-determinate pod-setting habit, 2-3 effective branches, 21-23 nodes on the main stem, average 55 pods per plant. Pods are yellow, medium-sized, mostly 3-seeded pods, slight pod shattering. Seeds are elliptical, seed coat yellow, slightly glossy, does not split, hilum light brown, purple stain rate <0.5%, brown stain seed rate <1%, insect-damaged seed rate <2%, seed appearance excellent, seed weight per plant 23.5 grams.
Disease resistance: highly resistant to soybean mosaic virus disease.
Quality analysis: crude protein 46.04%, crude fat 19.03%, protein and fat content reach the national high-quality standard.
III. Key Points of Cultivation Techniques
Suitable for spring and summer sowing intercropping and relay intercropping in the Beijing, Tianjin and Huang-Huai regions. Spring sowing is generally from April 25 to May 15; summer sowing from June 10 to June 25, both can mature at the appropriate time.
Sow with sufficient soil moisture to ensure uniform seedlings. High-fertility and high-water land: spring sowing retain 0.8-0.9 ten thousand plants/mu; summer sowing 1.1-1.2 ten thousand plants/mu. General plots: spring sowing 1.0-1.2 ten thousand plants/mu; summer sowing 1.3-1.4 ten thousand plants/mu. On barren, dry and saline-alkali land, sowing density should be appropriately increased.
Water and cultivate/weed at the appropriate time; during spring sowing, appropriately control watering at the seedling stage to prevent excessive vegetative growth. During the soybean flowering stage, pod-setting stage and seed-filling stage, sufficient fertilizer and water should be ensured. Harvest promptly after maturity.
