"Qiangfeng No. 2" is a new soybean line selected by the Crop Improved Variety Research Institute of Shan County, Shandong Province, from a mutant plant of "Xingnong No. 2". In addition to all the characteristics of "Xingnong No. 2" such as high yield, lodging resistance and good quality, this line has even greater disaster resistance and lodging resistance. Characteristics and traits. Sub-determinate pod-bearing habit, plant height 120--130 cm, 3--4 branches ("Xingnong No. 2" does not branch), about 120 pods per plant, with a maximum of 260 pods, podding on the main stem and branches equally important, pods with 3 seeds accounting for more than 95%

Characteristics and traits. Sub-determinate pod-bearing habit, plant height 120--130 cm, 3--4 branches ("Xingnong No. 2" does not branch), about 120 pods per plant, with a maximum of 260 pods, podding on the main stem and branches equally important, pods with 3 seeds accounting for more than 95%. 100-seed weight 25 grams, seeds yellow and round, strong growth vigor, vegetative growth and reproductive growth synchronized, long flowering period, large number of flowers, dark green leaves, pods set along the stem. Highly resistant to lodging, white flowers, grayish-white pods in the axils, pods densely set, so dense that the stem is not visible, sparse pubescence, excellent seed quality, good marketability. Matures in 138 days when spring-sown, and in about 100 days when summer-sown. Disease-resistant, disaster-resistant, strongly stress-resistant.

Yield performance. In 1997, in a comparative trial of 23 varieties, it won first place with a yield of 357 kg per mu; in 1998, in a comparative trial of medium-maturing varieties in North China and East China, it took the championship with a yield of 377 kg per mu; in 2000, the average yield in regional trials was 382 kg per mu, and the high-yield demonstration field reached 418 kg per mu. Over 3 years, the average yield per mu was 21.70% higher than that of "Xingnong No. 2" soybean.

Key cultivation points

1. Land preparation and fertilization. This variety is suitable for cultivation in all soil types. The key to high yield is to apply more fertilizer; there is no need to worry about lodging. For spring sowing, apply 2000 kg of high-quality farmyard manure per mu and 35 kg of Sakafu, plow deeply and harrow finely. For summer sowing, the land does not need to be plowed; wait until the seedlings are 30 cm tall and apply an appropriate amount of topdressing.

2. Planting and management. Spring sowing in mid-April, summer sowing in early to mid-June, row spacing 25--30 cm, row spacing 50--30 cm, about 9000 plants per mu, and other management methods follow conventional practice.
