Introduction to the High-Yield Characteristics of the New Soybean Line Qiangfeng No. 2
"Qiangfeng No. 2" is a new soybean line bred by the Shanxian County Crop Improved Variety Research Institute of Shandong Province from a variant plant of "Xingnong No. 2". In addition to all the characteristics of "Xingnong No. 2" such as high yield, lodging resistance and good quality, this line has even greater disaster resistance and lodging resistance.
Characteristics and traits. Sub-determinate podding habit, plant height 120-130 cm, 3-4 branches ("Xingnong No. 2" has no branches), about 120 pods per plant, maximum 260 pods, podding on the main stem and branches equally important, 3-seed pods account for more than 95%. 100-seed weight 25 g, seeds yellow and round, strong growth vigor, vegetative growth and reproductive growth synchronized, long flowering period, large number of flowers, dark green leaf color, pods set along the stem. Highly resistant to lodging, white flowers, grayish-white pods between nodes, pods densely set, so dense the stem is hidden, sparse pubescence, excellent seed quality, good marketability. Matures in 138 days when spring-sown, about 100 days when summer-sown. Disease-resistant, disaster-resistant, strongly stress-resistant.
Yield performance. In 1997, in a comparative trial of 23 varieties, it took first place with a yield of 357 kg per mu; in 1998, in a comparative trial of medium-maturing varieties in North China and East China, it won the championship with a yield of 377 kg per mu; in 2000, the average yield in regional trials was 382 kg per mu, and in the high-yield demonstration field it reached 418 kg per mu. The 3-year average yield per mu was 21.70% higher than that of "Xingnong No. 2" soybean.
Key Cultivation Points
1. Land preparation and fertilization. This variety is suitable for cultivation in all soil types; the key to high yield is to apply more fertilizer, and there is no need to worry about lodging. For spring sowing, apply 2000 kg of high-quality farmyard manure per mu and 35 kg of Shakfu, plow deeply and harrow finely; for summer sowing, plowing can be omitted, and when the seedlings are 30 cm tall, apply an appropriate amount of topdressing.
2. Planting management. Spring sowing in mid-April, summer sowing in early to mid-June, row spacing 25-30 cm, row spacing 50-30 cm, about 9000 plants per mu, and other management methods follow conventional practice.
