The key to soybean planting is to do a good job of three early tasks.

1. Early weed control. 3-4 days after soybean sowing and before emergence, use 50% acetochlor emulsifiable concentrate at 100-150 ml/mu, mixed with 30-40 kg of water for soil sealing. If weeds are already present in the field at the time of application, add 20% paraquat at 100 ml/mu and mix it in. If soybeans have already emerged and there is no time for soil sealing, use 10% quizalofop-p-ethyl emulsifiable concentrate at 60-75 ml/mu, or 15% fluazifop-p-butyl emulsifiable concentrate at 60-75 ml/mu, or 12.5% haloxyfop emulsifiable concentrate at 60-75 ml/mu, mixed with 40

If monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous weeds are mixed, choose one of the above agents and mix with 40% chlorimuron-ethyl aqueous solution at 80-100 ml/mu, or 25% fomesafen at 80-100 ml/mu.

2. Early thinning. According to experiments, timely thinning can increase yield by about 8%-17% compared with late thinning. To avoid thin, spindly seedlings and tall, leggy seedlings, thin promptly at the 3-leaf 1-heart stage. The thinning density should differ according to variety and soil fertility. For medium to high fertility and tall-growing medium-late maturing varieties such as Yudou 22, 25, and 16, keep 10000-12000 plants/mu; for medium fertility land, keep 12500-13500 plants/mu; for dry, poor land and early maturing varieties such as Yudou 20, 23, and 15, keep 14000-16000 plants/mu.

3. Early promotion and control. At the early flowering stage of soybean, if the plants are thin and stunted, with small and thin leaves and yellow or pale green leaf color, apply nitrogen and phosphorus compound fertilizer at 10-20 kg per mu, applied in a one-sided furrow with diammonium phosphate, which can effectively reduce flower and pod drop and promote vegetative growth. If combined with foliar spraying of vitality essence, the effect is even better. If the plants are leggy and the canopy is closed, spray at the early flowering stage with 150 mg/kg paclobutrazol solution or at the full flowering stage with 200 mg/kg solution, which can inhibit plant height, control internode elongation, and reduce growth rate.

The standard appearance of soybeans in the early stage should be: fresh green leaf color, thick and plump leaves, well-developed root system, high dry matter, and steady growth and development.
