Method and Key Technical Points for Cultivating Oyster Mushrooms with Biogas Residue
1. Material preparation. Take fully decomposed biogas residue, cover it with plastic film to prevent pests from laying eggs on it, and drain the water for 24 hours before use. Select fresh, mold-free cottonseed hulls and turn them over to dry in the sun for 1-2 days.
2. Mixing. Mix according to 60% biogas residue and 40% cottonseed hulls, or 70% biogas residue and 30% cottonseed hulls. First mix the cottonseed hulls with water until moist, then mix thoroughly with the biogas residue. The moisture content should be such that water droplets appear when squeezed by hand but do not drip down.
3. Making the mushroom bed. Choose an indoor or outdoor location with good ventilation and light. If it is on an upper-floor surface, use plastic film as a base. The bed width is 80-100 cm, the length depends on the site surface, and the thickness is 6-8 cm.
4. Spawning. Use 4 kg of cultivation spawn per 100 kg of compost. The spawn should have plump mycelium, be free of contaminating microorganisms, and preferably be no more than one month old. Make holes in a 6 cm × 6 cm square pattern, 3 cm deep, and place one piece of spawn the size of a broad bean in each hole. After spawning, use plastic film to keep warm and retain moisture.
5. Management before mushroom emergence. Before mushroom emergence, the plastic film needs to be sealed well, and generally the film should be opened once every 7 days for ventilation. During the fruiting body formation stage, oyster mushrooms require more water and consume more oxygen, so attention should be paid to ventilation and supplemental water at this time.
6. Harvesting the fruiting bodies. They can be harvested when the fruiting bodies grow to eight-tenths mature. Harvesting too early will affect yield, while harvesting too late will reduce quality. After the first batch of oyster mushrooms is harvested, the next batch can grow after 15-20 days. Generally, after inoculation, a batch of material beds can produce three to four batches of oyster mushrooms.
7. Applying supplemental nutrient solution. Use a wooden stick to make small holes 2 cm deep and inject nutrient solution. The nutrient solution can be a 0.1% urea solution, or a 0.1% urea solution plus.
