Characteristics of the oyster mushroom variety Brown Top 81

Mushroom Cultivation 0 views
In the late stage of mycelial colonization of this variety, a mycelial film does not readily form on the surface of the substrate, so fruiting proceeds smoothly; primordia are sparse, the rate of mushrooms reaching maturity is high, and large clusters of mushrooms readily form; once mushroom buds appear they are already in clusters of black nodular bodies, and up to maturity the main change is the enlargement of the caps, with no visible marked elongation of the stipes; the fruiting bodies are plump and stocky, spreading horizontally, with the caps of young fruiting bodies black and those of mature ones dark brown or brownish; it also fruits normally when cultivated in poorly ventilated air-raid-shelter tunnels. The stipes are short or essentially absent, and the caps account for a large proportion, making it very suitable for processing into canned products.
